Art school is minimum 3 years out for me but a girl can dream.... disclaimer I am only looking at the prices like a little bit... like 100 dollars for a 30 pack caran d'ache is just objective insanity but I operate under the delusion that I will save up for the next three years and can actually afford all this. Let me dream!!!
1. New alcohol markers
Ideally the Ohuhu 320 (or 216) Colors Dual Tips Alcohol Markers but those are $244.99 and $169.99 respectively so unless I suck some major Ohuhu dick that is NOT happening
Also, I KNOW Ohuhu markers are overpriced little shits I do not care I want my fancy brush tips or I will perish on the spot!!!
Price: $244.99 or $169.99
2. Castle Art 120 Pack Coloured Pencils (In Zipper Case)
Castle Art 120 Coloured Pencils
I don't work with coloured pencils all that often to be honest, but I doubt I'm gonna make it through art school without ever picking up a coloured pencil. Plus Castle art is my babygirl, it's like Faber-Castell's less snobby little brother.
Price: $44.99
3. Tanmit 24 Colors Acrylic Paint Pens Dual Tip
Tonmit 24 Pack Acrylic Markers
These are affordable as hell compared to the rest and i looove acrylic markers because acrylic paint and I don't get on, never have NEVER will I hate it.
Price: $12.99
4. Artistro 48 Colours Watercolour Palette
I hate watercolours wjth a fiery passion but I'm willing to try again very very far into the future
Rn I have I think a prismacolor set of like 12 colours that I stole from my highschool (sorry) and it is butt ass bootyhole I hate her.
Price: $29.99
5. Himi Gouache Jelly Cups 18 Colours Set
I've never really used gouache before but I really want to because it seems like the most scrumtious medium ever and I've heard HIMI is a really good brand!! And they're not THAT expensive so it won't make me cry.
Price: $19.99
6. Castle Arts 48 Pack Premium Quality Acrylic Paints
Castle Arts 48 Pack Acrylic Paint
Babygirl Castle Arts going for the win again
Tbh I use these weird acrylics right now that are called like Marie's Acrylics and they're awesome but I can't find them ANYWHERE
I hate acrylic paint we fight all the time but I love her. Your honor I love her. Occassionally.
Price: $49.99
7. Castle Arts 24 Pack Oil Paints 12 mL
Castle Arts 24 Pack Oil Paints
Castle Arts come kiss me on the mouth you gracious thing
If I had any more than 8 dollars in my bank account these would be mine rn, but I sadly do not.
My school doesn't provide oil paints (fake bitches) so I've never gotten to paint with them because I primarily do marker, pencil and digital art and the price has just like... not been worth it + linseed oil scares the living daylight out of me.
Price: $39.99
8. Winsor & Newton Linseed Oil Medium and Winsor & Newton Brush Cleaner
I have my thoughts on Winsor & Newton because they're overpriced fake fucks (wow Ana tell us how you really feel) but tbh this shit is just solid and it's insanely chemical so I don't trust cheap ass Amazon knock-offs because that WILL destroy my brushes.
Price: $6.25 each
9. Amazon Basics 24 Pack Paintbrushes
Knowing me I'll keep using my duct-taped paintbrushes that my family has used for atleast 3 generations until I die but it's fun to imagine
Price: $17.15
10. EGOSONG Drawing Set Sketch Kit
Y'all don't understand how badly I NEED this in my life
I have a chepa version of this and that's already super vool to own so this is like SUPREMEE
The charcoal?? The WHITE charcoal?? The graphite?? What if I died.
Price: $24.98
11. Fudenosuke Tombow 10 Piece Set Brush Pens
Tombow Fudenosuke Brush Pens 10 Piece
OKAY I KNOW these are like 20 dollars which is ridiculous but in my defense I just shoplift a couple black and red ones every few months or so because I am NOT paying that but this is the closest approximate match.
I also use the Sakura Pigma pen or the Sakura Identi-pen which I also steal from my local art store because they are criminally expensive and a girl has to eat.
Price: $22.68 (insane I know)
Total Price: $497.65/ €451.57 or $422.65/ €383.51. Wow. Shoot me now
Other than that I have nothing super specific (like that's not already WILDLY expensive girl shut up). Ofc sketchpads and gesso primer and canvases but I get all that at the dollar store and I have no preference for any brand.
What I use for various stages of drawing:
Sketching: A red colored pencil for the initial flow of movement, then light blue for the rough sketch, HB or 2B for the final pencil sketch and Fudenosuke pens, Sakura Dual Tip Identi-pen, a traditional fountain pen or a Pentel Tradio Stylo TRJ50 for line-art depending on what I can get my grubby hands on the quickest.
Colouring: I usually colour works digitally but if I do use them traditionally I almost always use the Lanke Alcohol Ink Marker and DecoTime Aquamarker (dollar store Dutch brands, I doubt you'll find them online). Sometimes I use Staedtler colored pencils, but the pencils are VERY cheap and unpigmented so only for rough colour-blocking to refine digitally.
I have two of those multi-coloured clicking pens that I use when I'm drawing at school, together with my single red brush pen (hanging on for dear life.)
Painting: I rarely paint but if I do I use the Marie's acrylics 36 colours set and Van Bleiswijck (Dutch brand) acrylic paint.
I occasionally use acrylic pens, I have a single white Posca pen and the rest are technically dollarstore glass markers but who can tell. My brushes, palettes, canvases and sketchbooks are all dollar store brands
I draw digitally a lot, on my phone I use IbisPaint X and my finger (send help) and I have a Huion Kamvas 16 from 2021. She is way too big, but it works really well once you figure it out. I'd recommend getting one no larger than a big iPad or your sketchbook. On it I use ClipStudio Paint, it's a one-time purchase of $50, but you can also use FireAlpaca for a free program.
No one asked but I told regardless, BYEE
