Something pretty important to know before anything : French is a veryyyy difficult language (and it's literally my first language too), there's a lot of exceptions and verbs tenses & every object comes in masculine or feminine. "Spider" (Araignée) is a feminine word and "Cauldron" (chaudron) is a masculine word and there's no definite rule to tell them apart

BUT if you really want to and that you're willing to actually put in the works because you really love that language here are some advices from me & some I found online
- Duolingo will Absolutely not help for fluent French speaking. It may give some bases but don't entirely rely on it.

- It can also get pretty intense and demotivating with streaks & stuff so just know IT'S OKAY TO TAKE BREAKS AND NOT PRACTICE EVERYDAY!! especially when you're just starting and that you're not so familiar with the language. Take your time!

- When you get comfortable enough, reread / Relisten something you know well in Fench so you can pick up the vocabulary and grammar since you already know how it goes.

- Honestly never be afraid to search up a word if unsure. It's better to be corrected than wrong!

- Here are some Reddit posts that list great French learning sites :)
