Tldr: I mourn the fact that kids of the new gen won’t have that excitement this gen did about movies/shows playing on tvÂ
I was trying to help my sister with some tech stuff and it made me realize how her generation has had technology at their fingertips since they were born while most of us,(gen z) while not old enough to see the beginning of cell phones and tablets, have been young enough to watch things change.Â
I remember when the descendants 2 movie came out and my friends and I were rushing to Disney Channel to make sure we didn’t miss the beginning of the movie. We were on a video call and talking about the movie and everything fr. I know that tv channels still exist and all but it makes me kind of sad that younger kids won’t be able to feel that rush of getting everything done before their favorite movie/tv show comes on since it’ll already be on an app  (Does anyone else remember waking up for school and being happy that their fav show was gonna be on while getting ready?)
Also knowing that these network apps have a variety of shows and movies..why can’t they show them on tv Like if I found out Batman brave and the bold was getting reruns I’d be on Cartoon Network as fast as a call of duty player slinging out slursÂ
Idk what my point is here but I think I mainly miss the lack of tech there was because it made things more exciting (not to say I hate network apps cause i’d be crying if I couldn’t watch infinity train and over the garden wall again…those were staples in my childhood)
To finish this off I shall place another childhood memory here: Infinity Train had a countdown on Cartoon Network for their first episode and I was eager to finish all my homework before the timer ran out. During the commercial break after the timer I closed the draperies, and turned off all the lights in the living room for that theater experience. I was excited knowing that thousands would be watching this with me at the same time and wondering what their reactions would be throughout the episode. Idk bruh I just want more tv special eventsÂ
