The Sopranos:See My Spirt Soar

Tony Soprano is invited to attend a school assembly at his grandson’s elementary school, where the students will perform a musical number called “See My Spirit Soar” sponsored by WARM101.3, a local radio station. Tony reluctantly agrees to go, hoping to bond with his grandson and impress his daughter Meadow, who is visiting from California.

Meanwhile, Livia Soprano, Tony’s mother, is bored and lonely at the retirement home, Green Grove. She decides to sneak out and hitch a ride with a group of hippies who are heading to a nearby park for a picnic. There, she is introduced to marijuana for the first time and enjoys the feeling of being high. She also befriends a young girl named Harmony, who is the daughter of one of the hippies.

Tony arrives at the school and is surprised to see his mother there, sitting next to Harmony. He assumes that she is there to watch the assembly, but he soon realizes that she is stoned out of her mind. He tries to get her to leave, but she refuses, saying that she wants to see Harmony sing. Tony is shocked to learn that Harmony is one of the performers in the musical, and that Livia has given her a bong as a gift.

The assembly begins, and the students take the stage. They are dressed in colorful costumes and sing a catchy song about flying high and following their dreams. Livia claps and cheers along, while Tony is mortified. He notices that Harmony is holding the bong behind her back, and he fears that she will expose it to the audience. He tries to signal her to drop it, but she misunderstands and thinks that he wants her to use it.

As the song reaches its climax, Harmony takes a hit from the bong and exhales a cloud of smoke. The audience gasps and the music stops. The principal rushes to the stage and grabs the bong from Harmony, scolding her and Livia. Tony tries to apologize and explain, but he is met with angry glares and insults. He is escorted out of the school by security, while Livia laughs hysterically. She tells Tony that she has never felt so alive and free, and that he should try it sometime. She then sings the chorus of the song: “See my spirit soar, I’m flying higher than before. See my spirit soar, I’m living life like never before.”

The end.
