Ask Sebby put out a video recently that talked about ideal credit card setups, at the end of course he asked the viewers to come up with their own setups, so this is what I came up with, the ideal travel setup that would convince me to start traveling, it is hybrid, strongest in Travel but still good for the some odd cashback redemption
No AF card, combines the Citi Double Cash and Rewards+
- 2% Cash back (1% purchase and 1% pay off)
- 10% Rebate on any points redemption
- Round up to nearest 10 points
- 24 Months Extended Warranty on warranties of 5 years or less
- $150 SUB in the form of 15,000 points, 1 cent per point
Middle Card is $95 AF, combines Custom Cash, CSP, and US Bank Cash+
- 2 categories every month to get 4x back in on up to $1000 per month
Automatically applies to the 2 highest categories, which include any of the following:Restaurants, gas stations, grocery stores, airline, hotel, transit, TV+Internet+streaming services, drugstores, home improvement stores, fitness clubs, live entertainment, fast food, utilities, department stores, select clothing stores, cell phone providers, movie theaters
I also think Online Retail and Mobile wallet should be in there
-1.5x back on all other purchases
- Unlock transfer partners
- 15% Point Bonus when redeeming in travel portal ( this still procs the No AF card rebate )
- Only constant credit is $100 Global Entry/TSA Precheck every 4 years
- 90 day Price Protection, 90 day Purchase protection, 24/month Extended warranty
- Offers
- 60,000 ~ 90,000 point SUB
Expensive card is $500 AF, CSR + VX
- 5x Back when booking for Airline, Hotel, Car rental through the Travel Portal
- 3x when booking directly with airlines and hotels
- 1.5x on all other purchases
- CSR's $300 Broad travel credit
- CSR's Priority Pass w/Restaurants + Plaza Premium + Issuers lounge network
- 10,000 points every anniversary
- also unlocks travel partners
- CSR's Travel Protections/Insurances
- better offers
- stackable 10% rebate on any points redemption
- stackable 10% point Bonus on travel portal redemptions
- 80,000 - 150,000 point SUB
for example if you had all 3 cards
then redeeming 10,000 points in the portal becomes equivalent to 12650 (26.5% bonus)
that same redemption gets a rebate of 2100 (21%) points
together that 12650 worth for 7900 is a value bonus of 60%
the offers replace constant credits, they come and go similar to Amex Offers
at least one Hotel transfer partner has to have a 1:2 constant ratio, similar to Citi Premier and Choice Privileges
The travel portal also has to have price matching
