what is reality shifting? (an overly detailed explanation)

Reality shifting (more commonly known as just "shifting") has, in recent years, become a somewhat normal thing to see online, however most people don't know the first thing about it. I'm here to change that. Today I'll be going over what shifting is, common practices in the community, scientific proof of shifting, misinformation, and more.

Before anyone comments that it's fake or tries to diagnose me with disorders they probably only know the names of because of TikTok, this post was not made for you. Please respect others' spiritual beliefs, block me if you have to because if anyone does leave a hateful comment I'll be doing so to you anyway.

If you're here to learn, whether out of boredom, curiosity, or maybe even wanting to start shifting, you're more than welcome to stick around. Just remember to be respectful <3

This post was made to be informative, but if someone is reading this post to learn to shift, I would recommend trying to shift first, as too much information may make it harder. Areas marked with a star (✦) are the only sections I suggest new shifters read, and areas marked with (✧) are sections that new shifters CAN read if they're struggling, but aren't necessary by any means. If you just want to learn or you already know this information and want to discuss it, feel free to read the whole thing.

In addition, some shifters may not benefit from more information. Please take your own journey and what you need into account before continuing. Some may find this info helpful and others may not, so if you have doubts on the effectiveness of this for you please hold off on reading this blog entry. 

Last disclaimer I promise, but if you are a shifter who wants to read this, please keep an open mind. Some things I say are what I personally have theorized alongside others, so they may not be exactly what you believe. I am open to CIVIL discussion in the comments, but please at least consider what I have to say as I will for your point of view.


WHAT IS SHIFTING?
Please understand that from here on out, all information shared will be in relation to the multiverse theory. This is the most common theory and what I happen to believe in, but I will describe the two main theories so you can decide which to research. I will not be doing something like this for the consciousness theory unless several people want it, as I currently don't know nearly enough about it for this detailed of an explanation.

MULTIVERSE THEORY: The idea that we exist in an infinite multiverse as a consciousness connected to infinite realities. We can shift by disconnecting from this reality and connecting to our DR (desired reality).

CONSCIOUSNESS THEORY: The idea that reality exists as we perceive it, and is a reflection of your consciousness. We can shift by altering our perception and the energies that make up everything to reflect our DR (desired reality).

As some of you may have already guessed, shifting is the act of becoming aware of another reality. To shifters, I'm sure this sounds like standard knowledge, but it's important to make this distinction early on. Many refer to shifting as "moving your consciousness to another reality," which while not necessarily untrue, can lead to quite a few misunderstandings. Most significantly, many think that you are unconscious when shifting, which is simply untrue. I'll get more in depth on what happens in your CR (current reality)/OR (original reality) while shifting later, but for now just remember that you are not moving your consciousness, but your awareness to avoid misunderstandings.

The multiverse theory states that the multiverse is infinite, and thus there must be infinite possibilities. This is where the idea of shifting to fictional worlds comes from. A common misconception is that shifting was made up by teenagers online who wanted to go to Hogwarts or other fictional places, but this is not true. It is a practice that originated in Hinduism and Buddhism thousands of years ago. Modern shifting has simply taken the spiritual practice and utilized it for a new purpose, though the initial spiritual intent behind shifting still exists for many. (Also, not all shifters are teenagers! Plenty of adults, including elderly people, shift!)

Ok, it's later, so what happens to your CR body when you shift? 
Nothing! Your life in your OR will continue as normal, you just won't be aware of it. This is why I prefer the word "awareness" over "consciousness," as it can help prevent misunderstandings.

As I said, "consciousness" is technically still correct when going off the multiverse theory, as you are becoming conscious of what is occurring in another reality, however the word is most commonly used when talking about sleep and other forms of unconsciousness, so I find that avoiding this word can be helpful when speaking about shifting.


SCIENTIFIC PROOF OF SHIFTING
At this point, I'm going to assume you think shifting is too good to be true, and I can't blame you. Being able to experience anything you want, regardless of the limitations you experience here sounds like sci-fi at best, but trust me, it's all science no fiction!

I say that, but first I'd like to put a disclaimer. With our current technology, there is no way to fully prove reality shifting. There is lots of evidence to support it, and I will share that, but please do not come into this section expecting to find irrefutable proof.

✦ In addition, shifters, please understand that doubts are natural. The human brain is naturally skeptical, and struggles to believe things it has not seen (which is good btw!!). Even those who have shifted, such as myself, doubt shifting's existence sometimes. The important thing is to accept these doubts and move on from them, not letting them get in the way of your shifting journey.

Ok I'm going to be completely honest. I'm way too lazy to do a research paper on quantum physics. Thankfully, many people already have, so I don't have to.

This post by sophie is back and this post by RealityShifting101 are the main sources I have used when doing research, but there are dozens of posts on science and shifting. I would suggest Amino (I know, war flashbacks) as it tends to have the most comprehensive posts, but make sure to do your own research and fact check what you find as well if this is something you want to learn more about, as there is lots of misinformation in online shifting communities.

Now to address the elephant in the room, the declassified CIA documents. I know this is the proof many on shifttok will point to as definitive proof, but that's not what it is. The documents are about astral projection, and while they do mention shifting (and the two are closely related, though not the same) I do not count these as proof of shifting. 


SHIFTING PRACTICES:
This is where I might lose some people, but that's okay. I get that some (if not all) of this might seem outlandish, but please just block me if you're considering leaving rude comments.

✦ Scripting:
This is the process of specifying what reality you want to become aware of. There are no rules for scripting, as it's highly personal. Realistically, it's also optional. Plenty of shifters skip this step altogether.

If you want to create a script, I would suggest starting with Notion templates. I'm not going to go into too much detail about what Notion is, all you really need to know is that it's good for organizing your thoughts and it's arguably one of the most popular tools for scripting. These templates are very common, and can be either general (for any type of DR) or tailored specifically for a certain place you want to shift (such as the MCU or a K-Pop group)

shifterium on tiktok has lots of good templates, so I would suggest starting off with theirs. (As of writing this, they're on an indefinite hiatus from tiktok, but their templates are still up!)

I might make a post on scripting later, just explaining what everything is/means, so please let me know if there are any questions you have that you'd like answered.

✧ Subliminals:
Ok what I actually mean by this is Supraliminals, but (realistically) nobody calls them that even if Subliminals are technically something completely different. 

These are videos or audios with sped up affirmations layered to help you convince your subconscious mind of something. These are common in the manifestation community, but guess what, if you've ever manifested something, you've shifted :) they're the same thing. (Ok, technically EVERYONE reading this has shifted before, but we'll get there)

There isn't much I can say about Subliminals, you can use them however you want, but I leave you with this: be careful. Unsafe Subliminals (subs with harmful affirmations hidden in them) do exist (though they are somewhat uncommon now), and they can cause anything from temporary blockages to full on sleep paralysis, so make sure to check the comments on any sub you find. (And if you plan on trying them out, be careful of Celestial Subliminals! They're a massive account but known for having unsafe subs that have caused lots of issues for people)

I don't mean to make people afraid, but it is a real possibility. Before you use ANY sub, make sure to set the intention that only positive affirmations will affect you and you should be okay :)

✦ Setting Intention:
Ok so this is the only thing that's even close to a REQUIREMENT for shifting (it still isn't one), and that's because setting an intention is literally just wanting to do something. This is as simple as thinking "I am going to shift to my desired reality," though it is possible to shift on accident

✧ Meditation:
I'm assuming everyone knows what meditation is, so I'll jump to why it works.

Meditation is the most common way to get into the Void State. It allows your physical body to sleep while you are aware of everything surrounding you, allowing you to more easily shift your awareness.

Many YT channels make guided meditations specifically for shifting. Alunir Meditations is easily the most popular of them. These meditations follow a method, which I will cover soon.

The Void State:
Admittedly, this isn't necessarily a practice, but it's still very helpful and often talked about in shifting communities (I mean, I've already mentioned it).

The Void State is, essentially, a state of semi-consciousness, where you can manifest anything you desire. It's not hard to get into for most, it just takes some patience, but guided meditations can help those who struggle. 

It's a bit more complicated than that, actually, but that's the gist of it. And if you're planning on trying to get into it, believe me you'll know. It's a pretty unique feeling.

Methods:
Ok so hot take maybe, but I don't like methods (for myself). I find that they can be needlessly complicated for no reason and they're all just copies of each other, BUT if you're just starting and don't really know what to do they can be useful. I'd suggest using a guided meditation with a method that looks promising to you when you start, just so you can get a gist of what the actual process of shifting looks like, but don't rely on them too much. Just trust yourself, and it'll be okay.

Now, for what a method IS. It's a process of steps for shifting, basically. They're just designed to help make shifting more formulaic, to help people who might struggle with just winging it.

Both sleep and awake methods exist, and they're exactly what they sound like. If you plan on shifting, just do what's best for you.

✦ The Law of Assumption:
This is the idea that by convincing yourself something is true, it will be true. This is a common manifestation technique, and as we've discussed, manifestation and shifting are the same thing.


✦ HOW TO SHIFT:
Do it

But really, you shift every second. Every choice you make is shifting. Reading this sentence now? Good job! You shifted!

It really is that easy. Don't put too much thought into it.


✦ MISINFORMATION:
I'm gonna be honest, there's so much misinformation on shifting that if I went over everything I might die before I finish writing this. A lot has already been debunked, so here's the main things I think are important to know:

"shifting is just lucid dreaming"
Lucid dreaming is when you become aware you are in and can control a dream, shifting is becoming aware of another reality with REAL people. They feel completely different, and you can shift while awake and even standing up. (Of course, you can shift through a lucid dream, but you're still gonna wake up from it in your DR)

"shifting is just astral projection"
Astral Projection is an out of body experience in the Astral Realm. I'm not really sure where this one came from.
(Yes, I know Astral Projection is more complicated than that, but I'm trying to keep this simple so I don't go insane)

"shifting is just maladaptive daydreaming"
I think I know where this comes from? A lot of the terminology shifters use is similar to that of Maladaptive Daydreaming, but diagnosing a stranger on the internet with a mental disorder because of their spiritual beliefs is.. interesting....

"shifters are delusional/it's just schizophrenia"
See above

"permashifting/respawning is k-wording yourself to shift"
NO!!!!!!!! That is blatantly wrong. Permashifting is shifting and never coming back, and respawning is permashifting but scripting that you forget your OR. Please do not kys to shift.

"you need ____ to shift"
There's no requirement to shift. Do whatever feels right to you

"you should try and disconnect from your cr at all times"
You should ONLY be disconnecting from your CR while you are shifting and always ground yourself after a shift. Being disconnected from your CR at all times can lead to dissociation. Yes, try and connect to your dr as much as you can if you already plan to shift there soon, but you can do that without ungrounding yourself here. (Plus, grounding yourself in your CR can help you ground yourself when you get to your DR, a step that many struggle with)


Lastly, I know that many might think this blog is "overcomplicating" things. I agree that too much information going into shifting can be a bad thing, however this post simply was not made for everyone. Personally, I found more success in shifting once I learned more and theorized more about it, and while I understand that some may have the opposite effects, that was the purpose of the disclaimer at the start.
