Whispers of departure (poem)

In the tapestry of hearts I hold so dear,

Threads woven with whispers, love sincere, 

Yet as I reach to touch each cherished soul,

 A haunting doubt within starts to unfold.

Conversations dance, in words they say, 

Assurances sworn, they'll never stray. 

But echoes linger, a subtle unease, 

A silent fear, a longing to appease.

For every smile, a shadow looms,

A fear that whispers impending dooms. 

Their vows of presence, like fragile glass, 

Shatter in my mind, aching, alas.

Is it my heart's yearning, a soul's refrain, 

That paints these worries with hues of pain? 

Or a truth untold, a silent plea, 

That they may not feel as much as me?

I cling to hopes in a fragile embrace, 

Praying these feelings, time will efface. 

Yet the fear persists, a haunting rhyme, 

That those I cherish will fade with time.

In this mosaic of bonds and care, 

I fear losing what's precious, rare. 

For though they vow to never depart, 

My heart whispers of an impending part.
