“My hair looks awful.”

“Well it’s not my fault you walked in on my knife throwing practice.”

The tirade of insults that followed only made the young man sigh, looking up at the Pink Princess with an annoyed scowl. Her attempts to get more knives thrown in her direction was precious at best, but he wasn’t going to sink to her level.

Plus she had just barged in without knocking, how else was he supposed to react?

“You could at least apologize.” The indignation in her tone made his hand ache to do a throwing motion.

Instead, he set them aside, looking at her for a long beat, deep green staring back into crystal-like blue eyes. His eyes dropped for a moment to her lips, in their signature bratty pout, but a little voice whispered in his ear that they looked just so damn kissable.

Wait, what?

Sanding from his bed, he sighed, rolling his eyes, moving past her to grab the knives out of his target. “Sorry, Princess, didn’t mean to ruin your perfect hair.”

Behind him, he heard her make a pleased sound, her triumphant walk towards the door evident. Rolling his eyes, he resists doing it again, but knows better. He doesn’t want to listen to the complaining the rest of the day.

“If it means anything,” she said from by his door, “I know if you had actually been aiming, you could have killed me.”

Turning, he frowned, not sure where this was coming from. “What are you getting at?”

She giggled, turning to him, smiling that secret smile of hers, the one that would drive him crazy any other time. “You knew I was coming, you heard me.”

He tensed up, his cheeks heating up. So... he might have heard her coming because of his heightened senses. It’s why he hid down here, in the old dungeons she had turned into his private space; To live and train away from the loud noises and potent smells that caused him discomfort under long exposure.

In all honest, she wasn’t as annoying as he made her out to be. The way her chestnut hair fell in elegant waves down her back, how her pink lips parted when he looked at her, that blush on her face...

She had actually done a lot for him, and this was his thanks?

“Princess,” he said softly, an uncomfortable emotion feeling in his chest, “I’m sorry.”
