i was pretty excited when i heard of this site because i used to spend my teen years hanging out on forums like these. though as soon as i browsed a bit, i saw that there are huge problems here with grooming, hate speech, porn & gore spamming. what's up with that? is this site still worth it?
i was more interested in discovering like minded people in a more anonymous and interesting way to discuss similiar interests. anyone have any advice to avoid the miserable people who shit on this website for no reason?

Well, this site has a tremendously low amount of volunteer moderators. If gore and pornography upsets you there are user-made scripts to disable the "Cool New People" section on the front page, which is usually where the shock content is.
There are bad actors on this site, like all sites, the majority of people here are just looking for friendships.

It's not currently "frequent" though, it happens every few weeks and they usually come in waves and then stop so if they start posting you can probably just leave for an hour and come back to the site.
