There's a particular hospital that I REALLY wanna work at more than the others in the area (it's a state hospital so I'm not naming it for privacy). After several applications I FINALLY got past their stupid computer algorithm so that a real person could read my resume and I instantly got a first interview. Their algorithm is so unbelievably ridiculous! My mom had to search reddit for a post from one of their hiring workers in order to figure out how to get seen :// Government-run systems are always really shitty but if I get the job I get mad benefits since I'll be an employee of the state. I really hope I get in, my mom's been working there for nearly 10 years so I confidently know the general vibe of the staff and that the union is reaaaaalllly good which is why it's my #1 goal to work at this specific hospital. It's also well known as a teaching hospital so I don't have to be as worried abt my lack of experience which is super helpful. Still kinda crazy to me how you can become a licensed phlebotomist after only 4 weeks of training but I'll take it lol. I'll still have abt a month long training period if I get hired which makes me so much less nervous cuz I am NOT ready to be a full fledged independent phlebotomist. According to my mom their hiring process takes quite a long time (typical government tsk tsk) so while I'm waiting I'm continuing to take training courses with the same program I got my license with. Their program is actually really sick, my tuition was like $1200 and now I'm a registered student for life and I can schedule classes whenever they're available for free. I can even specifically ask them to only show me classes that are doing draw days so I can draw blood the whole time and don't have to sit through the study sessions cuz I already passed the national exam. The fact that the classes are free forever is actually crazy I'm really glad I chose them cuz I almost wasn't going to. They don't even tell you you're a student for life until after you pay like if I knew from the start there's no way I'd have chosen anyone else! I might try applying to some other hospitals in the area while I'm waiting as well cuz it was only the first interview but I'm gonna wait and practice juuuust a bit cuz I really want this hospital. Fingers crossed I get a second interview soon after they check my references!
Think I absolutely nailed my job interview
