Two major malls in the Chicagoland area are closing within a month of each other very soon. And these are very populated middle/upper middle class suburbs. Very sad. :-(
sad indeed, it sucks places like these where hanging out with friends there was the norm are being shut down and demolished, really shows we are growing up.

Some are more dead than others. The one in my area is always crowded especially around the holidays. It's possible you went during off hours. Some times I forget I have a wild work schedule and wonder where everyone is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

its like the hangout spot where i live so it might js be that mall
The malls in my area are the same (though many stores unfortunately closed recently at one of them).
