Lockdown Listens #5 - Imelda May with Noel Gallagher Ft. Ronnie Wood

Yesterday, I finally experienced a Lockdown Birthday. When the infection cases were plummeting in Summer, I thought I might have just escaped it but COVID clearly had other ideas and decided that it was only fair that everyone has at least one Lockdown Birthday. So I decided to make the most of it by wearing a plastic tiara whilst drinking cans of lager and playing a Bongos Bingo quiz. A wild 27th right?

Next on the Spotify Release Radar was Just One Kiss by Imelda May with Noel Gallagher Ft. Ronnie Wood. It's a beast of a track and I love it. I solemnly swear that there is no bias involved with this song as I can be a dedicated advocate for Oasis. I definitely felt 90s grunge vibes from this song with the bass line at the beginning which is then enhanced by Wood on guitars and then an epic solo in the middle. May and Gallagher's vocals compliment each other very well in this song and overall it's a provocative and seductive tune. May's suggestive lyrics execute the idea of temptation and losing control really well: "Send me to heaven, baby/ With your lips, yeah/ Just one kiss (just one kiss)/ But what could come from this (just one kiss). Just the echo of "Just one kiss" is like having a little devil on your shoulder, whispering in your ear. It's a great rock 'n' roll song in my opinion.

Imelda May's forthcoming album, 11 Past The Hour is set to be released in April 2021 which I believe will feature collaborations with other artists such as Miles Kane.
