Journal Entry #85: 12/12/23 - Home (for the Holidays)

•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•

And just like that, the fall semester's over. I did okay on my final exams. I got a 69 on my Cal I final (no B :/), an eighty-something on my history final, a 90 on my bio final, and a ninety-something on my ethics final. I'm so glad to be done!

Shortly after my Cal final, I grabbed dinner with this guy I've mentioned previously. I enjoyed his company and then quickly went home to pack. When I arrived home, the family Christmas tree was set up already, though it was bare. It took a lot of coaxing to get my sister to help me decorate it!

I've been home for a bit, and surprisingly I'm not feeling as depressed. I brought home my boombox and I am just in love with how all of my newly discovered songs sound. The bass on my boombox is so good... As for other good things, I've gone shopping a couple of times, made mac 'n' cheese and Lucky Charms hot cocoa (cocoa pictured below!), and gotten a new game!

The new game I got is Hi-Fi Rush! It blows my mind that it came out earlier this year. I really dig the art style and the gameplay is good. However, I'm having trouble finding the beat. It may have something to do with my controller latency. Oh, and that's the other thing, I can hook my controller up to my computer! It's so cool! I hope to have more fun playing it since I "gifted" it to myself as an "early Christmas present".

Also, speaking of presents, SoundCloud Playback was released! It turns out my top song was I Lost Thursday by They Might Be Giants. I really thought it was going to be Bangs, but oh well. My Tally Hall Youtooz is still stuck somewhere between China and the US. I don't think they'll arrive in time for Christmas...

So yeah, for the most part, I've been in pure bliss. I can tell though that the excitement and happiness are wearing off, so it looks like I may need to busy myself tomorrow. There is plenty to do! I need to apply for internships and scholarships, clean my room (I kinda cleaned it already), and prepare for the coming semester. I already know the spring semester will be hard, for whatever reason, the spring semester is always the hardest of the two.

Oh, and one last thing. I've been getting into this OVA called Alien 9. It's an interesting, but extremely flawed anime about girls who fight aliens. It's an early 2000s sci-fi anime, and I have a soft spot for those. Even if the story and characters are a little lackluster, the art is amazing. It's just such a pretty show. If you like animation, then maybe give it a watch. All four episodes are up on Youtube, though they are not of the best quality. Considering that my birthday's only a couple of months away, I think (if I can find it), I'll get the OVA disk (myself) for my birthday this coming year.

It's so weird how close and yet so far December and February feel in terms of distance. I think it has to deal with the vibes. Both are cold and dark, but December has a busy yet joyful undertone to it, while February has a quiet, reflective, but melancholy undertone. It may not be the 21st, but winter is here.

Boa noite,
