The piano and the touch of the aforementioned

This one is lengthy, so stick with me.

As of right now, I am listening to far more music played solely on piano. I feel like I needed a calm playlist, and now I have it! There are very specific examples of music I have listened to recently that I feel bear major significance:

My Friend the Forest - Nils Frahm

Blurred Moon - Daniel.mp3

I'm Going Insane - Playmistful

Wyoming - Elijah Fox

and a curveball:

QKThr - Aphex twin

So what is going on here? All different artists unified under a single instrument (except for Aphex Twin, who uses an organ) to take center stage. The Piano is an instrument that has been around for centuries, so what makes these particular songs so special?

I find it to be the noise. The stuff that leaks into the recording. However, in these cases, a specific set of sounds is left in artistically. That would be the musicians.

In each of these songs, you can hear each delicate press of the key, the pads of the fingertips finding their mark as they dance and pace the piano's surface, producing note after note with a soft breath and careful stride. With every movement you can hear the nigh-inaudible brush of cloth against the skin as the sleeve of the musician moves, you can hear the slight creak of the wood floor or the stool the pianist is sitting in, you can hear a soft breath from time to time as the pianist observes his work, savors the sound of the piano's lingering hum brushing the walls with a paint of noise. It's so close, so real, so euphorically human.

These songs reach this level of personal touch that I'd go as far as to describe them as intimate.
