vintage newspaper '56

Hi everyone! Welcome to my blog. :D

today I was at the vintage market and among some things I bought, I bought this weekly Italian newspaper of politics, culture and current affairs "Oggi" dating back to 1956.

Let's browse it together and I'll translate some old news! 

on the cover the photo of the new voices of Sanremo (Sanremo is the Italian music festival, in 1956 there was the sixth edition, in 2024 there will be the seventy-fourth edition) Luciana Gonzales, Antonietta Torrielli and Franca Raimondi respectively. it is explained how the festival participants come from all parts of Italy and have the most diverse backgrounds but all have a love for music in common.

in these pages it is written about the fantastic victory of a man named Vittorio Ciari on the popular television program "Lascia o raddoppia"

In the photo there are Vittorio's young daughters who follow their father's progress on TV as the aim of the show was to correctly answer questions from certain categories including art history, the history of the church and the history of Italy.

Vittorio wants to buy a nice house for his family with the money he wins. Although he had not been able to study and due to economic conditions he couldn't buy books to study, he turned to the priest and some professors who lent them to him. The people of the small town where Vittorio lives (near Florence) greatly celebrated and supported his win, they are very proud and hope that he can participate in the program again and even run for mayor (but he prefers to continue doing his job)

in these pages the murder of the mayor Aurelio Bussi by a young woman named Alfa Giubelli is written. Alfa Giubelli would have killed his mother's murderer with a revolver, in fact, although years have passed since the event, Alfa was still in violent shock and has never forgotten how that man killed her mother in 1945 during a tragic episode of the civil war.

some product advertisements brands still famous nowadays!

the first are biscuits that promise to be very fragrant because they are packaged hot.

the second image promotes Colgate brilliantine for shiny, tidy and soft hair. It is available in both liquid and crystallized versions.

These pages promote the jewels of Harry Winston defined as "the king of diamonds" on the model Isabella Nicò, a twenty-one year old girl from Florence.

The jewels are described as wonderful treasures and are shipped worldwide.

in these pages they wrote about fashion for girls. two of the proposed looks represent an overcoat, by a roman tailor, in carrot red wool and a fresh and light dress by Castillo and Lanvin that can be worn both for dancing and for a ceremony, it is cobalt blue with black dots.

there's no shortage of news from abroad, gossip about actors, other advertisements and crosswords! the curious thing is that at the beginning there are letters of complaint to the editor, advice and compliments for the newspaper.
