Monarch: legacy of monsters rambling!!! (spoilers for the show obv)

OH MY GOD this show man. I love this show so much and everything about it is so cool and I'm so hyperfixated on it. 

I love how its more based around the humans and how the titans affected humankind rather than just being about the titans (which is basically the movies.) I love cate randa so much and how her PTSD from g-day and her dad leaving is represented, and shes a canon lesbian which is so cool!! And she is so so sad bc in ep 5 we see how on g-day, she was cheating on her gf (who wanted cate to move in w her) and the gf dies and she's still living with the grief from that day and how she feels like she deserves nothing. I love flawed characters sm.

Then we're introduced to kentaro (cates half-brother bc her dad had another family in secret) and his kinda ex gf may. Kentaro annoyed me at first because he was like really mean to cate and was just acting stupid with may, but he redeemed himself a bit when he saved cate, may, and Lee in Alaska from the ice titan thing and tried to make cate feel better when she was having flashbacks from g-day in ep 5, and he was silly.

May is ok imo, she does help the group a lot and has a LOT of chemistry w cate but she was kinda mean to my fav grandpa aka Lee >:( and in ep 5, she was shown calling a number a monarch agent gave her and like... going behind their backs so that's a nono. And shes a little annoying I'm gonna be real.

Alr now lets talk abt LEE SHAW!! I love this mf so much its insane. so basically, in every other episode we see flashback scenes from the 50s and "modern day" (which is 2015 in the show.) and in the flashbacks we see young Lee and also cate and kentaro's grandparents, Billy and keiko randa. And they like become a trio and basically study monsters for the military bc they all had a near death experience together with a dragon type titan. And we haven't seen much of it yet but Lee and keiko were together before they split and keiko got w Billy and GOD I'm not ready for all of that. But from what we can tell, he really really loved her and still loved her even after the break up. But something really sad that happened was the three of them exploring a supposed radiated powerplant type place and keiko died by being dragged into a sinkhole by a bunch of bug type monsters while Billy and Lee tried to help her. And I already know Lee felt SO horrible since he was down there with her and probably blames himself (And btw, Billy and keiko had Hiroshi aka cate and kentaro's dad at the time who was pretty young.) Then later on, Kentaro's mom mentions how Billy died in Vietnam when Hiroshi was 18 so Lee was the only one who was there for him, vice versa. And everything after that is kinda gray but I'm pretty sure Lee was taken by Monarch before Hiroshi had kids and he stayed at a retirement home prison thingy for like 30 years. But anyways, Lee is really sad and traumatized and everyone he ever loved died/left him and he has a weird age thing where he's 91 but doesn't look it at all so we're probs gonna learn why and yeah.

And one more thing, I LOVE how similar Cate and Lee are and the amount of parallels between them is actually crazy. They both deal w a ton of trauma, regret, and abandonment issues. And this is just a personal theory of mine but I think Lee is Cate and Kentaro's bio grandpa considering how him and keiko used to be together and just a TON of hints?? But if I am right, then they gotta give us some family bonding w him, Cate, and kentaro cause I eat that shit up.
