Sure, SpaceHey is very similar. If you squint it could probably look the same. But the influence MySpace had back then? Nothing will ever top that. The way users would spend hours customizing their profiles, down to the smallest detail. The drama that "Top 8" used to cause.
example:
-Did you see that Emily took Natalie off her top 8?
- omg, yes! Was it because Natalie put Mary in top 3?
I mean, come on. You had to craft your top 8 ranking perfectly. You had to put the popular kids higher, but what about your friends? Does Emily go in Top 3 because she has a Blackberry? What if Jason gets mad?
It was chaos. It was beautiful.
And omg, the song! You had to choose a song that would play every time someone visited your profile. It had to be emo, but not too much as to not get called a poser. Had to be underground so you could look cool and different but not too underground. It had to have a meaning, a story behind it, But you had to change it every couple of days or else it would get boring. It had to be... perfect.
But then, Facebook came around. And it killed MySpace. The end of a beautiful era. Something that will never happen again. It was unique.
It was MySpace.
