Larry Brooks is a Marine Biologist turned lobster. "WHAT? HOW'D HE BECOME LOBSTER-IFIED THEN???" Good question.
A young boy named Brooks who consistently struggled with social interaction was always able to find comfort in obsessing over facts and trivia, and in visiting the beach. Combining these two passions, he fell down a rabbit hole of ocean creature knowledge, eventually leading him to develop a fascination with lobsters. He idolized them, viewing them as perfect creatures, writing a series of journal entries, short stories, and essays on what he imagined life as a lobster would be. Such a simple existence, in such a perfect form. He went on to pursue marine biology, excelling as a carcinologist (scientist that studies crustaceans). He begins a project, which he calls project "Super Lobster", but in secret calls "Phase 1: Perfecting the Vessel". The basic idea is that he uses a computer chip to grant a lobster (Larry) intelligence, and teaches him English. The lobster is incredibly intelligent, like Brooks, and he finds comfort in speaking to his lobster companion. They fall in love, and agree to exist in the same vessel, the lobster, since Brooks expresses feeling trapped by his mortal flesh in comparison to the freedom of a lobster. They combine their names and become one entity, Larry Brooks. Brooks achieves this by uploading his consciousness into the computer chip that gives the lobster his intelligence. Since he effectively "k!lls himself" in the process of leaving his human body behind, he writes a suicide note expressing only his desire for his lobster to be free once again, not burdened with being monitored yet being allowed to keep the chip that grants it it's intelligence. He is released into the ocean, living peacefully as a lobster until one day he is captured by a mysterious individual.
