3 unreleased games that i'm excited for!

not a lot of people seem to talk about these, so i thought i would spread the word. all are available to be wishlisted on steam right now, so you can keep track of them if you are interested!

1. Holstin

developer: Sonka
release: TBA
tags: survival horror, psychological, pixel, retro, story rich
this game's existence swooped me off my feet! it is set in the 90's Polish town consumed by weird ooze that infects everything it touches - enviornment and people alike. it is going to be fully voice acted, and the dialogue really sells the atmosphere. polish people will find delight in many cultural references this game makes :D

it looks like it has the typical 3/4 isometric perspective most adventure point-and-click games have, but you can actually rotate the camera freely, which gives an oportunity for many cool reveals and secrets. there is combat in this game, and you smoothly enter first-person-mode while aiming, which is quite novel for this type of game.

demo for the game, featuring enviornmental puzzles and combat is already on steam :) the game is featured on Day of the Devs rn, so there are high hopes for it!

2. Dead Meat

developer: Meaning Machine
release: 2024
tags: detective, story rich, simulation, noir
can you believe there is no content on this game's community page? in this one, you play as a detective interrogating Lucia, a woman suspected of murder. in fact, the higher ups are 100% sure that she is guilty and all they need from you is to make her confess by all means necessary. oh, by the way, have i mentioned that Lucia is strapped to a machine that lets you read her mind?

aside from striking visuals, this game is what i wish AI was used for instead of stealing art. Lucia's character is programmed as AI, meaning her answers can change easily rapidly depending on your questions. and there are no limits here, because you can type in your own dialogue! no matter if you copy interrogation techniques, flirt, manipulate, you can experiment all you want, all for the confession.

despite no demo, i am confident that this game can really set a trend in detective genre!

3. Mewgenics

developer: Edmund McMillen, Tyler Glaiel
release: 2024
tags: turn-based, roguelite, rpg, dark humour, tactical
'sol, isn't this a wordplay on eugeni-' yes, yes it is. this game is all about hoarding and breeding cats, collecting items and mutations, all to send your kitties on adventures through a post-apocalyptic world engulfed in chaos to explore further and further away from home. the game will feature not only exploration and combat, but friendly NPCs and quests, which is quite refreshing for Edmund's games.

you can expect a lot of dark, dirty and sometimes gross humour from this game, as this dev's games tend to be. but if you can stomach it, the gameplay is truly advanced. stats, classes, equipment, abilities (affecting allies, enemies and enviornment alike), all of it makes you feel like you are in a DnD campaign. there is also base building and well, that whole genetics shtick. over 200 bosses and enemies will ensure that each misson will be exciting!

there is sadly no demo, however the game's steam news page has TONS of content on the game's looks, mechanics and characters!

i hope i piqued your interest with this post, and that you could also find a game to look forward to with me! do you have a game that you are waiting for?

Holstin looks sick asf I seriously can't wait until that one comes out. I haven't tried the demo yet, but I heard it's solid. Great list.

I've been keeping an eye on Holstin for a while I adore it's vibes.

Also really interested in the new game Kojima and Jordan Peele are working on together. We have like no information on it but I love both of their works so I'm hype.

i've been looking forward to a holstin announcement date and i feel like i cannot wait anymore :,) it along with blasphemous 1 & 2 really got me back into pixel art; it's so amazing what people can do with their hands!!

dead meat seems so interesting though, tysm for showing it here!! sometimes when i play detective games i get a bit bored by the fact that there's no unpredictability to them, so i'm really curious how using ai will work out for this game :)
