the downfall of an amazing movie: hotel transylvania, a monstruous disaster

but hotel transylvania 2 happened.

the idea on its own isnt bad.... IF YOU COMPLETELY THROW AWAY THE FIRST MOVIE. my GOD that movie makes me so mad. at the beginning of the movie, we are shown old drac: a vampire who still hates humans. like, sure, whatever, throw away his character growth I GUESS. the ONE THING we got from the first movie is completely gone. i would find it understandable if drac still felt unsafe around humans, but around JOHNNY????????????? his character growth is GONE. and this goes on until the FOURTH movie. dracula repeatedly shows his distrust towards his son-in-law, ignoring the fact that it ended afte his heart to heart with johnny and his love for his daughter. after that, we meet dennis, mavis and johnnys son, which couldve been an AMAZING adition to the lore! i genuinely think his character isnt aaaall that bad, but his character design.

80 MILLION BUCKS FOR THAT????????????????????????? FOR THAT FREAK?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? I AM RIPPING MY HAIR OUT. HE MAKES ME PHYSICALLY ILL. not only his character design is painfully mid, but its literally small johnny. (real image of how their designs look side by side)

they had a chance of doing something AWESOME. i dont personally agree with the red hair as it is a recessive gene(yeah, i am using what i learned from bio class just to dunk on this piece of shit stupid looking ass baby) BUT it isnt impossible. i wish they wouldve given him brown hair as a throw back to mavis mother, it wouldve given the writers a chance to explore draculas grief, maybe even make mavis ask more about her mom and even teach about her to dennis. it couldve been a goofy but touching story line where dracula finally lets it go and learns to live his own life without constantly drowning in his own grief. in the first movie, whenever mavuis says anything about her mother its because her aunt told it to her, it was never dracula. it wouldve been nice for us, the viewers, to watch dracula finally be able to talk about her.

now about the stupid ass baby's clothes. it sucks, lets be honest. they had the chance to mix johnnys sense of humor with mavis goth(?) style and create something AWESOME. a simple shirt with a vampira joke like the ones bellow wouldve been simple yet so effective.

i dont think mavis wouldve made dennis wear all black since she loves human culture, but johnny likes monsters and his sense of humor mixed with that couldve given us those funny shirts. as for his hair, i personally LOVE the choice to make it curly. curly hair is a dominant gene so its fun how neither of his parents have ccurly hair yet he does! fun little detail right there.

ok, now talking about the story from the second movie.... it DESTROYED everything that was previosuly set. for the love of god, dracula almost DIED in the first movie while trying to get johnny to come back. he HUMILIATED himself in front of  every single monster who once trusted him while saying johnny is a good one. and now he doesnt trust him? again? what was the first movie for? it genuinely baffles me how badly written drac and johnny are on the other movies. in this movie, dracula, the guy who built a whole village to get his daughter to stay in his hotel because he didnt want her to get hurt, THROWS HIS BABY GRANDSON OFF A PILLAR. sure he regrets it later but HELLO???????????????????????????????????? HE WOULD NEVER. i know he was desperate, he didnt want his daughter to leave, but we went through this on the last movie. hed much rather her to leave and be happy than to stay and be unhappy, i believe the same goes to his grandson whom he loves so much.

to me, it is not believeable at ALL that the guy who put a helmet on his daughter to teach her how to fly also threw his grandson off a pillar to teach him how to fly

the second movie is also the start of the "johnny is dumb" thing. despite being shown as emotionally mature in the firt movie, he is constantly mischaracterized by the writes. he traveled the world, met new people, learned new things, and had deep conversations with the dracula(and probably many others since he travels a lot). i just cant believe he is a dumb character, i know it isnt true because it is shown to us how he can be mature when needed. he just prefers to chill, that doesnt mean he is dumb. this actually REALLY upsets me because he is such an interesting character. a guy who spent his WHOLE LIFE exploring the world, meeting new people, learning new things, and just, overall, experiencing life as a whole has NOTHING to give???????w come on now. i wish they woulddve explored more his love for adventure, maybe he would tell his son about the world and everything he learn while travelling, or maybe just share some cool fun facts about places. i KNOW i keep bringing this up but the scene from the first movie where drac talks about his dead wife to johnny is so perfect. it just shows how johnny is smart, loves learning about new things, and knows when to be emotionally mature.

now for hotel traansylvania 3.....

i mean... the idea is definitely and idea!!!!!!!!! i dont know, i think this one is the least terrible out of the sequels. the characters are mischaracterized, but i feel like its not as bad as the second and fourth movie. PERSONALLY i wish drac wouldve gotten with a monster as the human x monster idea had already been explored. not to be a hater but i HAAAAAAAAATTTTTTEEEEEEEEEEEEE this character design

she looks NOTHING like ANY OTHER CHARACTER. i did my research and it seems like the 2016 popeye was in production some years prior to hotel transylvania 3, so maybe they did this to cut costs????w i genuinely have NO IDEA. her character design pisses me off SO MUCH. she really is an interesting characters and i feel like she was nicely explored throughout the movie but my god her face pisses me off so much. i still feel like dracula shouldve gotten with a monster, maybe someone physically and mentally stronger than him because he is an anxious mess who needs reassurance sometimes. i also wish they had explored how he still loves his wife and his worries about "betraying" her. maybe franks wife couldve sat down and talked to him about how martha wwouldve wanted him to move on and be happy, or maybe even mavis say that. i rlly like this monster who drac dances with on the third movie and i reeeaaallly wish she has ended up as his romantic interest. idk, i think her character design rocks and that she is cool af

if this random woman has no fans, i am dead

it explores how lonely drac feels now that his child is grown and doesnt need him. he realizes that his life is empty now because he has been a father for so long that he doesnt know hoe to just be himself anymore. mavis realizes how lonely he is and tries to help him because she knows her father and how much he needs it. i like how erica takes advantage of draculas feelings, she is rlly smart. she isnt a terrible character overall and i dont hate that she is the one drac ended up with but idk i still have some conflicting feelings about her. i also gotta admit that i enjoy how mavis character is played out. it explores her feelings about her dad getting with someone in rlly nice way! she wants him to be happy but she is also uneasy about it. its such a big change in her life, she doesnt know what to think or how to feel because she loves her dad and wants him to be happy but he is still her father. she has never had a mom and she doesnt want martha to be expluded from her life with this new person. she is worried about the future and its rlly nice how they show it.

they still talk about martha and his struggles with dating because of his dead wife, its rlly nice but i wish they wouldve touched a bit more on this subject.

if we ignore the fart/butt jokes and some of the mischaracterization, its the best sequel! its fun and has a good story

now about the worst movie of all time: hotel transylvania 4

i didnt even finish watching it and i dont care its the worst movie ever. the idea is cool i guess but OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHH MY GOD THE MISCHARACTERIZATION DRIVES ME INSANE. I WANT TO RIP MY HAIR OFF AND EAT MY OWN SKIN. dracula is a BITCH and johnny acts like a little kid. he is a GROWN MAN. SHUT UUUUUUUUPPPPPPPP. he is pissed because drac doesnt want him running a whole ass hotel???? come ON. you are not 7yo, you cant kick and cry. and drack has a POINT. johnny doesnt have any experience on hotel managing as a whole, he is good on the entretainment area, yes, but thats all. he is not ready to run a WHOLE ASS HOTEL. that hotel is so important to dracula, its just just a place for monsterss. its where he ran off after his wife died, the place he built to protect his child and loved ondes, the place he built so no one EVER would go through what he did. he wants people to be safe, he wants them to FEEL safe. sure, now that humans and monsters are living peacefully, it doesnt need to be what it once was but that feeling will never fade. that place is so important to dracula, he cant just give to anyone. i know johnny isnt anyone and, if we ignore the previous sequels, he now trusts johnny. but this isnt a matter of trust, this is about johnny genuinely not knowing how to run a hotel by himself. its ok not to know!!!!  its fine!!! drac doesnt respect him any less!!!!!! it also sucks thta the movie makes it so dracula distrusts johnny even more than he did on the first movie. they keep throwing away their progress to make room for more conflict despite still having so much to explore. i hate this movie, i didnt even finish watching it and i dont care. i know that, at the end, the writers destroy draculas hotel to teach him a "lesson" and HELLO???W THATS SO MESSED UP. sure, it goes back to how it was for some reason but still. he loves that hotel and they just DESTROY IT RIGHT BEFORE HIS EYES???????W idk how or why it is destroyed because i refuse to watch this movie until the end but i absolutely hate it. ill always be salty about this shit show called hotel transykvania 4

anywayssssss thats it!!1 i finally finished writing this blog out of pure hate andd love for this movie. i dont think i said everything i wanted but i touched on every subject i hate the most. the first movie is so good and i genuinely think people should watch it. the animation is fun, the characters go through a nice development, and its just a nice watch imo!!!!!1 forgive my spelling mistakes, i wrote this without thinking much abt anything. thats it, idk how to end this blog
