Reply to Christian posts on hell and on Israel

Category: Religion and Philosophy

On social media I see a verse shared by some Christian’s. It is meant as a prophecy on the end times and comment on the current Israel/ Hamas conflict and its future. I will give my quick thoughts on this as I suspect, though it does not reference it, that Christian zionism is in the background of why some may want to share the verse. I saw shared from ZECHARIAH 12 2 "I will make Jerusalem and Jud... » Continue Reading

biased media on Gaza/Israel

Category: News and Politics

On network news 10/11/23 there was a lot naturally about the U.S citizen death toll, and also an interview with an Israeli teenager who escaped danger. I couldn’t hear the tv but the Palestinian toll never flashed across the screen. Because we have a biased news media.  On Wednesday, the  death toll  in Gaza reached at least 950 Palestinians, including 260 children, with the Palestinian Health Inf... » Continue Reading

Criticizing Israel vs Antisemitism

Category: News and Politics

Anti-Semitism is not acceptable and don’t let them gaslight you into thinking criticizing the modern state of Israel is prejudiced. Israel was re-established in 1948 after a long absence. Jewish people have existed all along, even without the state of Israel and despite prejudices against them.  If you hate fascism you can’t turn a blind eye to the modern state of Israel’s fascist crimes over the ... » Continue Reading

meme over-analysis pt. 2 childhood indoctrination

Category: Religion and Philosophy

With the assistance of chatgpt, rather than sharing the initial conversation that happened elsewhere, I will be providing a summary of points made in response to the meme. I have found it useful for debate and conversational purposes, with individuals' privacy in mind, to use ai to help summarize the conversation and break down points that were made more clearly. That way things aren't lost in rhe... » Continue Reading

meme over-analysis pt.1 Freud

Category: Religion and Philosophy

When it comes to Freud in the popular imagination, the thinker is most often associated with “so, you want to bang your mom/dad”. Of course things in pop culture will be dumbed down.  And so we have for example, this meme I will respond to. It is clever but illustrates in part that pop phenomenon.  The meme went: Sigmund Freud: All men secretly REALLY REALLY want to have sex with their mothers It'... » Continue Reading

on “world government” conspiracies

Category: News and Politics

I heard “your going to be forced to use the new currency” and I’m like brah, we’re already forced to use the dollar. And that it will be a “world currency” which the dollar practically has been defacto.  But giving the benefit of the doubt I think they mean the currency will be digital and it’s bad that you can’t use cash.  But even with a “world government” of sorts your going to need regional en... » Continue Reading

One Piece (2023) faithful or corny?

Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

So Netflix released season 1 of a live action adaptation of the long running manga “One Piece”. The live action show is actually very faithful to the manga; as faithful as you can probably get with live action. Having seen *most* of the anime (up to some point in whole cake island arc) I was wondering what fresh eyes (who have no background knowledge of One Piece) think of the Netflix show? I noti... » Continue Reading

Save scummy Baldur’s Gate III

Category: Games

It took me some “save scumming” on balanced difficulty but in Baldur’s Gate 3 tutorial section, I defeated both cambion and mind flayer, got cambions flaming sword and most loot (I know I missed a void bulb) pretty pretty cool. Most people don’t defeat the cambion as it is difficult. add mind flayer on top! It’s much easier to just escape. Reminds me of legitimate criticism I have heard about Lari... » Continue Reading

“I have enough faith in God that I don’t need to believe in him” - Pt1

Category: Religion and Philosophy

The statement in the title, “I have enough faith in God that I don’t need to believe in him”, presents a paradoxical view on faith and belief. The typical understanding is that faith in a deity implies belief in their existence. Here we are separating the concepts in a way that doesn't strictly align with traditional religious tenets. "Faith" is usually associated with trust or confidence in someo... » Continue Reading

In response to the meme “rich people control everything”

Category: News and Politics

The meme or widely shared photo tweet says, “It's fun that some folks think a secret group of rich people control everything instead of the widely known group of rich people that control everything” I think the sentiment of this meme is great, as in it’s great to combat anti-semitic or otherwise conspiratorial thinking.  However to nitpick it, rich people don’t even “control everything”. There is ... » Continue Reading

The Unconscious Judgements: Unpacking Our Perspectives on Poverty and Misfortune

Category: News and Politics

When people fall into or are in an unfortunate situation, one of our first tendencies may be to question as to what they did or did not do to be there. This way we can morally rationalize and judge their fault or innocence in the situation. But we might be asking the wrong questions. When a long standing tenant for example, learns the ownership of their home switches hands... and they have a certa... » Continue Reading
