Teachers and Nurses are Working Class

I can't believe I have to say this. Teachers and nurses only own their labor power to sell to capital. They don't own the means of production. The "PMC" or "Professional Managerial Class" is only a class in name, not materially. And at this stage in imperialism, the manual laborers some of you consider the "real" working class are just as bogged down by bourgeoisie ideology as the so-called PMC. Regardless of ideology, class incentive is what guides this part of history in its end so teachers and nurses are in the working class. This is just the same old fight between the legitimacy of intellectual laborers vs manual laborers but rebranded.

More generally: even as the roles available to the working class fracture and become more numerous and complex, the roles also unify moreso into the working class. This contradiction is driven by the actions of the owning class, who carve out more for themselves over time. And so "class interests" simplify over time as more people align to one class, which also means the working class devours some positions that weren't inside it proper before. As a thing becomes more diverse in one way, it can become simpler to find commonality another way.

Therefore we can see it is class itself that becomes simpler but the working aspect absorbs the prior complexity from the whole class system and generates new complexity. This shouldn't be groundbreaking to anyone studying Marxism-Leninism regardless of predictions made by any individual social scientist. The framework applies thusly: social relations create more diversity over time even as social contradictions unify. During unification, things don't simply "cancel out". Things permit or deny certain properties of themselves to be negated and others remain. This is the basic feature of how actual (non-logical) contradiction evolves. The whole system of a thing "dies" (becomes simpler and moves toward unity of opposites), but also that social energy and material is not lost to the ether. It "bleeds" out and becomes diversity.

In short, categorizing class in finer detail is counter to revolution itself. Study the class interests of people as principle to revolution.
