Hello SpaceHey, I ask that you spread the word about bills that have recently been passed through the Florida legislative branch.
Florida's government is targeting transgender people and trying to strip them of their rights to exist. They are about to pass a bill which would allow the Florida government to abduct minors who start gender-affirming care after the date the bill passes. They have already legalized parental kidnapping in the case of the child being transgender.
This is dangerous not only for transgender people, but for all LGB people, all minorities, and all oppressed groups. The far right is pushing genocidal legislation through state governments in an effort to silence and destroy oppressed groups. Please don't let this happen. Please talk about it.
I'll link the bill below so you can read it for yourselves.

How is this not considered a violation of human rights...It's genuinely sad seeing full grown adults in legislative power allowing the restriction of self-identity in children.

Am I too stupid to understand how having to be 18 to transition means trans people have no right to exist

The point is not the (relatively reasonable) age requirement for transitioning. The point is that the Florida government will be authorized to remove minors from their legal guardians on grounds of medical abuse, despite a lack of evidence that gender-affirming care such as HRT or puberty-blockers are inherently dangerous to minors. This will include Florida visitors. For example, a 16-year-old New Yorker who began HRT after the Florida bill was passed, then went on a trip to Disney World, would likely be removed from their parents by the Florida government.
Additionally, Florida has recently passed a law which prohibits transgender people from using a changing facility or bathroom which does not align with the sex they were assigned at birth. This means that a transgender woman with bottom surgery is legally obligated to use the men's restroom in Florida. https://legiscan.com/FL/text/H1521/id/2798970
These laws are not intended to protect children from medical abuse or malpractice, they are intended to prevent transitioning and transgender joy.
