Old Toy Broke! Help!

I was looking through my old toys and I found my old Simon machine and I wanted to try and beat my old high score which I think was 43? When I turned it on I think my high score got overwritten and when I tried to play it all it would do would flash Green Yellow Red then Blue and then shut off. the only way I can make it do something again is by turning it off and turning it back on again but it just does the same thing in the same order every time. I don't get it.
