Is it elitist?

now listen, I don't want to get all political I'm just curious what y'all would think about this topic: college degree requirement for elected government officials.

last month, our teacher for the subject philosophy grouped the class into four for the upcoming debate, she let us choose the topics and we chose "college degree requirement for elected government officials" and we got the government position Which meant that we were the agree side.

as me and my group mates looked into the topic, we realized a potential argument that the opposition could bring up that could definitely lead to our downfall and it's thinking that the idea is elitist and a privileged way of thinking because here in the Philippines, where I live, to be able to study is a privilege.

what do you think? is it elitist?

It's more than elitist, it's outright aristocratic.
