The Shooting in Nashville and why I'm afraid now.

For those who haven't checked the news recently, yesterday morning a male* shot up a private Christian school geared towards pre K to 6th grade. I'm not going to flounder around, this is tragic. Any mass shooting involving fatalities, let alone children being at the receiving end of a firearm, is tragic. No words can describe the extreme anger and disappointment I feel hearing this, especially when you see why I placed that astrix in front of male.

The shooting suspect is transmasc. As disgusting of a person as they are, I ask we refer to them with their preferred pronouns not because they actually deserve it, but because intentionally misgendering them doesn't make us any better of a person. BUT, I will still call him a selfish piece of fucking shit for claiming the lives of 5 people before cops shot him dead. His actions may have possibly made the sliver of a chance of Tennessee backing down on their anti trans behavior vanish. Most news sources made sure to point out the fact he's trans (while deadnaming and misgendering him of course) and that he wrote a manifesto dated to the day of the shooting.

Now for why I'm scared. This tragedy has not only cost the lives of people, but if we allow the politicians, they WILL use this shooting as a way of saying "These people are unwell and clearly shouldn't be allowed the basic freedoms they ask for" even though it's just one person. I know they're going to use this to punish the trans population collectively. They will, I just know it. Im scared, but worst, I'm angry.

Long story short, DON'T FUCKING SHOOT UP ANYTHING. IT NEVER ENDS WELL FOR ANYONE.
