[GAME] Harvester Review

For those who don't know, Harvester is an old point-and-click adventure DOS game made in 1996. It's mostly known for having the campy live action cutscenes, as well as being a commentary on violence and sex in videogames. It's def not for everyone, the gameplay alone is sometimes janky and the combat barely works correctly half the time. Not to mention the game features a lot of gore and shock visuals, and despite them being very silly now, a few got to me still lol 

It took me a while but I finally beat that damn game, I tried to complete it without a guide but these janky and cryptic DOS adventure games had me running around in circles for a while. It was pretty essential near the end to have a guide, especially if you do something dumb like me and get soft locked lmao

It's def one of those "so bad it's good" games, but I also genuinely enjoy a lot of the cheesy and surreal atmosphere it throws at you. It has a very unique charm and I'm glad I went into it semi blind. It's also one of those games you come back to sometimes to fuck around. There's a ton of easter eggs and secret bits and pieces to interact with around Harvest.

As I mentioned, I unfortunately soft locked myself despite following a guide. But! Thank god for old games having cheat codes bc I just gave myself more health after I had eaten my food already. Don't make the same mistake as me, ration your health stuff well bc they're stingy. I was at one hit point and stuck in a room with a janky ass enemy with longer reach than me. Not the best time. I was near close to closing the game and going to bed but I knew I was so close to finishing the game that I pushed through.

So yea! It's an old game that goes on sale often on steam, if you love cheesy acting, surreal horror, and can tolerate old game jank I def recommend checking it out! I'd also recommend going in somewhat blind, and consulting a guide when completely lost. I think the story and world hit better when you don't actually know much about it. :) Also!! This game is def for adults, I really don't recommened this to minors, especially considering how edgy it gets at some points.
