I've been thinking a lot about my future lately and one thing I've been kinda considering is cutting off a lot of my friends once I move again. Obviously no one on here, but I'm in a kinda stuck-between-a-rock-and-a-hard-place situation with a lot of them, since we're all getting older and drifting apart faster than the ice caps.
I have maybe two people I talk to frequently and a small handful of friends beyond that, and obviously all of them live about ten hours away from me at the very least.
One thing I've decided to try (again) is signing up for one of those online penpal sites. The one I chose this time is basically a proto-myspace, it looks like it hasn't been updated since 1999 and the features are pretty similar (luckily I find that much easier to navigate than minimalist modern stuff).
I preemptively set a few ground rules for how I'm gonna navigate this thing, those being that I'm not talking to anyone more than five or six years older than me, and I'm not gonna interact with anything that seems scam-y. If only that were realistic, cause every message I've gotten has seem weirdly copy-pasted aside from the one which was from a 37 year old. Awesome! Oh, well. I've sent only two message request things to the two human beings who didn't seem super weird, I guess we'll see how that shakes out. Yay internet!
