green energy ideas

let me preface this. my argument is not that of an environmentalist but of practicality. sure the fact that the world benefits is a nice side effect of switching to green energy but, i believe that switching to green energy has other benefits. to explain what i mean i have to explain resources. currently the ways we generate electricity uses up resources that are finite. the obvious is coal but the far worse one that we should be focused on is oil as that is a much rarer resource. because these resources are finite so too is the amount of time we can be on these types of energy grids. our current answer to this is to provide as little energy over the grid as possible as a result your electric bill reflects the amount of resources you've used up to generate the amount of electricity you used. so get rid of the excuse and get rid of the bill. i imagine alot of political arguments would be had over weather or not we should have an electric bill after we remove this one issue but the one thing that can't be denied is that no resources being burned means a cheaper or non existent electric bill. so from an economic stand point green energy is a positive. but not just from an economic perspective but also, a longevity perspective as it is now eventually we will run out of energy for electricity but switching to green energy means we can have a near infinite amount of energy to work with. now with that thesis out of the way, let me explain this blog. there's some great ideas for green energy out there but not every way of doing so is equal some work better in certain areas some work better in certain settings (there is one in particular that i think could manage to run just about anywhere which i will be explaining when i get to it) so i will be listing these green energy ideas along with the best place for them and will include a source on how they work. this list isent in any particular order and i will be adding on if i come across other ideas i like and think we could really make use of. with that being said, on to the meat of the blog.

solar panels

ok let's start with the obvious one solar power is all the rage these days and yeah i do like it but certainly not as much as elon musk seems to the thing is solar has pitfalls the obvious one being the place it's best for which is wide open areas that get plenty of sun meaning the closer to the earths equator the better

water mills

this is an older solution and was actually one of the 2 ways we got energy before the industrial revolution i like this one far better than solar panels however it is far more limited too being best in warm areas with fast moving rapids or a water fall now as long as the water is there it should be fine but if the water has any chance of freezing over it will inhibit this method

stirling engine

this one is my favorite cuz it can work literally anywhere it's best in areas that are perpetually cold however even in areas with unpredictable weather like michigan i can think of ways to get this thing working and be sure it never stops running by using it's own energy as the way to sustain these methods the first method i thought of would require use of a thermopad to measure outdoor temperature

traffic turbine

this one is great for cities that have heavy traffic 24/7 it uses the idea of the windmill and improves on it you will notice i quite intentionally left out windmills here windmills have 2 big glaring problems #1 they are dependent on the day being windy meaning they arent reliable and #2 modern wind mills still use oil so what about this traffic mill is enticing is that it's far more reliable (which btw eliminates need for oil to run) it's safer than a wind mill and it takes up far less space than most if not all options i've listed oh and these are rather easy to install compared to other options as well

i'll keep my eye out for anymore ideas also notice i didn't talk about things like electric cars simply this is about things we can replace the power grid with these other things arent anywhere near as important as this first part of going green and if they run off your power like the car does won't be saving you money or resources in the first place unless you're already using one of these green solutions for supplying power
