sooo when i look through ppls dni it’s there’s a lot of weird things i have questions abt
why do so many ppl have genshin impact fans in their dni??? did something happen?
dsmp. why do ppl care whether someone enjoys the content? i don’t like it and i don’t think dream is a good person but like???? a bunch of the members are super cool! it just seems a bit stupid and petty tbh..
dnaganronpa. ig this one makes the most sense to me cus the creators suck and the games are kinda weird and overly sexual. but still…

edit: wow this gained a lot of traction. so i’m going to take advantage of this popularity to actually state some well worded opinions because i was just kinda dumping on the first part.
first of all, i think the reason that so many ppl have these in their dni’s is because it’s become popular to hate these fandoms. i’m going to use boyfriends as an example. when it first came out it had pretty much only positive feedback. but then one person started hating it and then came a snowball effect and suddenly it’s embarrassing to read it. i don’t read boyfriends, but i don’t think it’s that bad. i just can’t read it because it’s to slice of life-y for my taste.
it’s pretty much the same with dsmp, genshin, and danganronpa. it’s just become popular to hate them.

I'd also like to say something about people who do have DNI lists:
Most people with DNI lists completely cancel out the meaning of DNI by INTERACTING with said person, making fun of them, sending them death threats. They basically cancel some parts out of their DNI list as a whole, and honestly people who do look like complete fools, and in the nicest way possible; complete dumbasses. Absolute clowns. Idiots.
You have a DNI list for a reason, there is no reason to just interact with them, make fun of them and make THEM gain more clout. Bait accounts exist. You hate it? Ignore them. Block them. You're most likely violating your own DNI list by doing shit that's on said list, and if I'm gonna be honest, you seem like a complete hypocrite if you do that.
"Oh but Mr. Dollie, sir!!!!!!!!! They have nothing better to do with their life other than start arguments with random people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" That's because YOU'RE starting shit with them. They're only getting attention from you so they can be more and more popular, and this happens a lot. They're basically way smarter than you think. They create an account that attracts people, they start shit with a bunch of people, and they get more popular. You are interacting with them. You know what you're doing. You post about them? More popularity! Congrats, you're an absolute idiot, and this can be learned through the consequences of your actions.
Boundaries? They exist. But just because you have an entire school essay on who you don't want to interact with you doesn't mean it's GOING to work. You'd rather just start blocking everybody who you don't wanna start shit with OR who you don't wanna friend because apparently they don't fit up to your standards. This is the internet, and it doesn't revolve around you. People are going to interact with you regardless, so just either deal with it and block them or do shit that gets them more popularity and attention.
DNI lists are basically the example of "I'm not ready for the real world/reality yet" and sometimes it shows. Nobody really gives a shit if you don't like a certain game and don't wanna interact with anyone that does. Nobody gives a shit if you hate soft blankets and gigantic fucking plushies. Absolutely nobody. And you'd probably expect them to in the first place. You either deal with it or don't.
TL;DR: DNI lists are practically useless at this point, nobody listens to them and people with them just violate their own DNI list mainly because they're dumb asf and fall for everything. Learn from shit, adapt, overcome.

dream has multiple grooming accusations against him and even if they're not true hes said the r slur before and made a kkk edit and on the grooming allegations some people just don't want to see that at all like people proofing they're true OE false discussions of grooming make people uncomfortable and if someone only associates dream with the grooming (whether or not it's true) they probably will be uncomfortable
genshin has a history of colorism (ik my pfp is genshin but i just like the character i do not support the game itself) they constantly draw characters as paler they have zero playable characters that are darkskinned (characters like kaye and dehya do not count as darkskin they're at most tan) despite having npcs and especially enemy characters that are darkskinned sumeru as a whole is just a massive example of what orientalism looks like with entire countries being blended together nahida the archon of a region based on swana and sa has no connections to swana or sa besides her also some japanese fans have called yae mikos design being too revealing considering she's meant to be a shrine maiden especially when shrine maidens are regarded as important and sacred (? idk if that's the right work I'm not Japanese) in Japan it's kinda of like showing a nun in a revealing outfit (to be clear shrine maidens are not nuns theyre just both regarded as important figures that dress modestly in their cultures)

The only time i see it being ok for someone to not want to interact with certain people is when it comes to the creator being a bad person, Mainly because the person is directly supporting a bad person. EX being boyfriends, the creator is a horrible person who drew a bunch of really horrible things and is just a bad person in general. personally i believe that is the only time its ok to not interact or want others to intract with you.

yeah the creator did bad things, but it was a loooong time ago (not an excuse ofc, but should be noted) but i think he’s a better person now. i don’t think it’s bad to like the webtoon. of course, i still make fun of the webtoon, but i never make fun of the people

this is a fair point, but i just am a very strong believer in separating the art from the artist. and yeah, if you don’t want to interact with people from certain fandoms you obviously don’t have to. but adding them to a dni list feels more like a “hey, look at me! i don’t support this thing so i’m a good person, right?” if that makes sense

there are ways to indulge in art without supporting the artist. i would say don’t purchase a game that is a lot of money made by a terrible person, but if you watch a show that has a rude creator but you speak out against the creator, you’re not really doing any damage. of course, it isn’t that simple. as for many things, it’s not just as easy as separating it into two different sections or boxes. so i think whatever opinion you hold about this, as long as you’re not hurting anyone, have that opinion.

Ok so my big question is WHY GENSHIN?
Like I know that there are some race stuff in, it but from what I’ve seen and heard it’s honestly better that most manga/animes. But then there’s also the fact that it’s made by an Asian company and Asia is not exactly populated with a lot of poc. Obviously this dose not excuse it but it doses give a reason why, and also points to the fact that they (MIGHT) have not ment any harm. That is little like the only reason I could think of that people would hate it, besides that “it’s a toxic fandom” reason (even tho most fandoms that wise are always a lil bit aggressive).
