Two of the wishes for myself in ten years came true to me...dropped studying Veterinary Biosciences at the University of Sydney for a Speech and Language Therapy degree in the UK and it was the best choice I've ever made in my entire life. I am so so so SO much happier here, I actually have a lot of friends from different parts of life, I can easily meet people via student night events, there's even an alternative club that I frequently go to.
People compliment me on my style and makeup which is always nice, I pull (but only people I'm not interested in lol).
I met my idols, I met Nova Twins, I went to their show in November at Electric Brixton, by that time I had only been to three concerts prior, MCR MK1, MK3, and Set It Off at Waterfront.
But still I knew they definitely were the best one I've ever seen live. Their energy was insane, so good that despite my ADHD and lingering thoughts, I was able to actually enjoy the moment, watching Georgia and Amy kill it on stage.
Before the concert, as I was an hour early, I was lucky enough to meet the twins and get a photo with them. I was so nervous as I had never met a celebrity I idolized before. Amy complimented my makeup and said "So good to see you!" as I had tagged them in a picture of me practicing my makeup for their concert. It consists of one eye with green eyeshadow and another in red, in the faint shape of vertical "X"s so that they look like starts, topped with sharp eyeliner to accentuate the shape.
It was the best concert experience because I held a sign that I almost didn't bring as I travelled three hours to Brixton and never held a sign before. It read, "Georiga, ur my #1 bass idol" cuz it's true, she is a bass master.
During their play of their unreleased remix "Unholy", at the time, I got to hold Amy's hand for one second and then Georgia JUMPED DOWN AND HUGGED ME. She asked me if I wanted to keep it, and I just went "No, no take it!" and I got to film it, the way I barely could process what I was saying before that, I just kept saying "Oh my God" and "I love you" over and over again.
After that I met the members of "We Wear Black Pod" and they complimented me on my outfit and they were so sweet, they really put in effort for a picture together and everything. I bought my first piece of Nova Twins' merch, the 'Bullet' lyrics, "It's my body it's my mind, do what I want with it".
Then I entered a raffle to go to Kerrang Magazine's launch party in early December. The twins would be hanging out at, and Sophie K from We Wear Black would be DJing, and I almost completely forgot about it when I got the email saying congratulations, I'm going to their event.
I was so shocked and felt so excited the entire night before so I couldn't focus on studying for my summative anymore.
I went and met a couple out of who one of them got chosen, and it was quite an intimate party, with only a couple "normal people"/fans who got chosen. The twins recognized me immediately and I got to talk to Georgia, and even about myself such as how long I've been playing bass, where I was from, etc.
I told Georgia that their EP (Nova Twins) was released on my thirteenth birthday, and she asked me if I was a Leo, to which I asked her if she was a Capricorn (such energy). I asked her if Amy was Aries, as she was giving off that vibe, to which she said she was actually a Pisces, but on the cusp of Aries as her birthday was March 20th.
I split off with the couple near the end and talked a bit with Amy while they talked to Georgia (and got a BeReal picture with AHHHH). I embarassed myself by calling Deftones' 2000 album "White Horse" instead of "White Pony", as the woman Amy was talking to corrected me (I saved face by saying I love "Around the Fur" lol). This was either the nerves or the alcohol (which was free! Sponsored by Crystal Vodka).
The couple and I got to hang out with Sophie K a lot as we were the only ones dancing and singing the emo hits she would play and she even tagged us in her Instagram stories and followed us back on Tik Tok <3
This ramble is really just for myself ATP but it was a really cool experience, I even made it on the Kerrang Magazine website.
