Making a ROM hack just for fun!

I got bored so I decided to pick up some old hacking tools I used back in 2013 and edit a ROM of Pokemon Emerald to have no plot, nonsensical edits, and a "fuck you" design philosophy. lol



The main character's name is Dickman! He is an indescribable creature I created on a whim because I thought it would be funny. Originally I was going to edit in Garth from LISA (but with some pants on) as the main character, but I thought it would be more interesting to have an original character that looks like... This. I have no idea what he is, he's just a thing and I love him.

The first thing you will notice when loading up this ROM is that Littleroot Town looks...

You can also leave the town without meeting the rival. That is because I'm tired of replaying the same stupid intro over and over and over again, so I decided to speed it along a bit by moving the script triggers that block you from leaving to the upper right corner of the map. If there's a way to delete the script that forces you to be in the truck, then to enter your own house where you can't leave until you set the time, I would like to do that.

Your starter is Jirachi, which has three moves: Confusion, Wish, and Full Heal :). Now, it wouldn't be a fuck you game if Full Heal :) actually fully healed you, so instead I made it so it immediately drains all of your HP, KO-ing you instantly. I guess this could be useful in a scenario where you are softlocked in a neverending battle you can't win, or if you wanted to demonstrate what happens if you die in the battle against the Zigzagoon that attacks the professor at the beginning of the game (it's kinda interesting!), but other than that it's just a troll move.

Your Jirachi comes at level 5 holding a Master Ball. Trust me, it is extremely likely that you are going to need this Master Ball to progress through the game, because Route 101's encounter table looks like this:

It is entirely possible that you won't have to use the Master Ball at all (whether through exploit, using a Walk Through Walls code, or sheer luck), in which case you are rewarded by being able to keep it for as long as you want. Heck, I may make this the only Master Ball in the game, but we'll see.

There's a lot more stuff I added and changed around, but if I ever release this goofy nonsense hack to the public, I want to keep some things secret so they are a genuine surprise to people.

TO DO:
- Edit the tileset to be more interesting somehow (idk how)
- Account for people who use cheats to bypass portions of the game (even cheats have their limits)
- Edit all of Brendans sprites to be Dickman (I only changed the forwards sprite) (btw Dickman is pronounced Dickmin and he has no gender, just goes by he/him for simplicity)
- Come up with a character to replace May that is equally as cool as Dickman.
- Replace the other starters and fuck with Pokemon names, abilities, and evolutions.
- Inverse the odds of finding a Shiny Pokemon to the point where finding a regular Pokemon in this game is as common as finding a Shiny Pokemon would be in the normal game.
- Figure out why AdvanceText keeps throwing up this error that prevents me from editing the text; make all the text incredibly stupid/downright rude except for when the original text is funnier in the situations it pops up in.
- Fix bug where first Pokemart shows the normal items rather than the items I want it to show. (I know why it does this but have no clue how to fix it in the "correct" manner; might bandaid fix by copying the script from a different town's Pokemart to this Pokemart and have them both sell the same items)
