Last week was Halloween, but tomorrow is something even scarier: the Midterm Elections. For those who don't live in the United States, the midterm elections happen in the middle of the President's term in years divisible by 2. Tomorrow, Americans will go to the polls and re-elect the entire House of Representatives, 1/3 of the US Senate, several State Governors, Legislators, mayors, secretaries of state and more. And usually, the President's party suffers losses in these elections.
While it's expected that the House will flip to the GQP, the Senate is more of a toss-up and I believe will remain in Democrats hands, albeit by the skin of their teeth. However, what's really concerning about this election is that it may the last one we have where the majority of the voters will still decide the winner. Many Republicans still buy into former President Donald Trump's "big lie" that he won the 2020 election. Since he left the White House, many of the Republicans are riding on that big lie so they can prepare for the next coup in 2024. The GQP wants to make it so that, in several states, mainly those won by President Biden, they can unilaterally reject the will of the voters and overturn the results if they don't like them.
What that means is that if the Democratic nominee in 2024, whether it be Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, or someone else, is the winner, but if certain Republicans don't certify the results, they can make it so that the Republican nominee, whether it be Trump, Ron DeSantis, or whomever, really won that states electoral votes, even if the voters didn't vote that way.
One outcome is that on January 6, 2025, Vice President Harris will not recognize the false electors from several states and neither candidate has enough votes, which would result in a Contingent Election, where Congress picks the President and since the Republicans control more state legislatures(as each state gets one ad hoc vote), the Republican is the winner anyway and the GQP coup is complete, and would be 100% legal this time.
Another outcome, that is more frightening, is that if two slates of electors show up from several states, Harris will still not recognize the ones from the losing candidate, resulting in a Democratic victory and the MAGAtards will be standing outside the Capitol yet again and, learning from the failed insurrection in 2021, will be better prepared and better armed so they don't fail this time and pull off the first insurrection since 1898.
So, to be honest, if the worst case scenario happens, tomorrow may be the beginning of the end of the American Republic. The institutions and safeguards that protected our democracy in 2020 may not hold this time, and, by 2024, may not exist at all. That means that the United States will no longer be a democratic republic where the voters are the deciders, but will become a plutocracy of "competitive authoritarianism", or even a fascist dictatorship.
Benjamin Franklin once said that America is "a republic, if you can keep it". Tomorrow, we'll find out if we did keep it. So if you all haven't voted yet, get your asses out there tomorrow and vote like the future of the country and your freedom is on the line. Because they may very well be.

good news for 2024 as well, since trump and desantis are split (and they're both running), conservatives votes will be split too, since they made the mistake of hyping up trump too much and they're tying to kick him out.
all we need is a good or satisfactory dem leader, which we didnt get last time. i dont think anyone actually liked biden that much, as far as i care he's a temp.
what worries me is the trans groomer panic they're doing. they've been going hard on it for the last 2 years. but according to their pattern of fake moral bullshit i think they'll stop whining (at least on the mainline) somewhere between 2024-28
