When You're Sure Your Coworkers Know You're Trans...

If you've at least read my bio, you know I'm three things: 27/F/USA, and specifically a recently-discovered trans girl as of 2022. I might be out online, to my grandmother, and to a few close friends (including an LGBTQ+ coworker and two allies at work), but I'm still very much unannounced to the majority of people.

I'm pretty sure it's an open secret at this point though. I've slowly moved to a more androgynous to feminine presentation. Walking more feminine, wearing girls tennis shoes, occasional bra strap poking around shirt collar, hair getting longer and longer, plus the hair clip. It doesn't help that I've worn nail polish since April, starting with dark colors and moving to brighter ones over time.

I feel fortunate to work in an environment where nobody cares. All of my coworkers, for as friendly as they are, are the type that aren't there to make friends. They're there to get the job done and go home with a paycheck. I know we've got people who aren't exactly allies, but they haven't been a problem so far. It also helps that my company is very LGBTQ+ friendly.

I look forward to finally persuing goals more. I just got health insurance after years without it, and looking into taking that coverage to my local gender-affirming healthcare provider. I hope to actually start the more medical side of transitioning soon. I guess if they don't already know, they'll figure out soon enough...
