Spending the Day with Jessica Fletcher

As a kid, I spent a lot of time visiting my grandmother. In a way, both of them.

Angela Lansbury is a lot of people to many. Mame Denis for Broadway fans. Nancy Oliver, Sarah Gates, and Eglantine Price for movie goers. Mrs. Potts for anyone who grew up with Disney. It's easy to name plenty of roles for a Hollywood Golden Age star who spent eight decades behind the camera and on the stage.

For me, that memorable role is Mrs. Jessica Beatrice Fletcher. The famed resident of Cabot Cove, Maine, J.B. Fletcher and her crime-sleuthing is definintely a favorite memory for anyone who watched TV in the '80s and '90s. Myself, I watched "Murder, She Wrote" in re-runs with my grandmother, who absolutely loves mystery series. In a way, those memories make Mrs. Fletcher seem like an extension of my grandmother as well.

The hardest thing is I recently decided to do a complete watch through of the series as well. I didn't expect that I'd be doing it after her passing as well. Now it's all the more reason to keep watching in memory...

To Angela Lansbury: Thank you for playing a part in my childhood and helping me in bonding more with my beloved grandmother. You will be missed.
