Photography

Thought I would post a blog where I post a photo from each of my photoshoots for my personal investigation project as I am in my second year of photography a level.

I just wanted to start this blog by talking about some of my inspirations and stuff. For me, I would say that the biggest inspiration for the style of photography that I am aiming for is the album Daisy by Brand New. I'm not really talking about being inspired by the album cover - although I definitely draw some inspiration from it, its a beautiful album cover and I think it fits the album very well overall. I'm talking more about the sound of the album, and the imagery I get from it both sonically and lyrically. There are lots of references to nature and stuff, and over all the whole vibe of the album just inspires me to take photos to match it. It's hard to put into words, but I want to translate the way the songs sound and feel to me into photos.

For this project, I will be using a range of different old cameras, and I will probably work with film as well as digital, which will be interesting. Every photoshoot I do I will upload my favourite photo to this blog, as well as some other ones I really like on a bulletin post.

-Please do not use any of these photos in any way that posts them online anywhere, let me know if you have any questions-

Final photoshoot for this project

Taken using Holga 120 CFN (film camera)

The deadline for this project is in about a week, meaning that I have finished all of the photoshoots for it and just need to work on the sketchbook and outcome books. Ive enjoyed taking pictures for this project (especially the final photoshoot), but it was pretty boring to work though with the whole sketchbook stuff. Its sad that the writing and analysing part of this project was so boring as it really sucks the joy out of taking the photos. Im conflicted on my thoughts of 'choosing' to do photography A Level (I didn't really have a choice), as on the one hand, it has been incredibly boring and I dislike the work, but on the other hand, I've made some nice friends in my class which makes the lessons bearable, and I have found joy in taking photos and discovered my photography style and which mediums I enjoy working in. I think that the way I take photos and how I take them has also influenced my work with film-I was very inspired by my photography when it came to making my music video. I've also really enjoyed using my Canon PowerShot for this project, and it was interesting using film cameras opposed to digital. So yeah, its boring and I hate the sketchbook work, but I think overall its been a good thing. I'm just rambling at this point, but I guess I just wanted to share my thoughts as this project comes to a close. I have a few more months and one more project and then I'm done with the course completely. I think ill continue taking photos when I've finished college. But yeah, take this into consideration before choosing Photography A Level I guess haha

Which ones your favourite photo?
