The GazettE song that I ponder on: Nakigahara

Nakigahara
"This song is about how the internet is a corrupt society/distorted world, where it is normal to corner and torment people of whom we don't actually see nor know— a place where people who may be similar come together to hurt other." [Ruki's 2009 interview translated]

The song also covers the topic of loneliness and solitude on the internet, and how even though there may be many people online, the person (who is narrating the song/"protagonist") still feels very lonely— yet even knowing that, they still pick the internet over reality. Which I can relate to!

I absolutely adore how catchy the song by itself is, but looking into the lyrics and their meaning has caused me to gain a greater appreciation for it. The more the years pass, the more relevant this song gets, as more people start to "live" on the internet.

The whole anonymity factor of the internet has already revealed the true nature of some people (i.e. 4chan), but it has especially shown us how willingly people are to hurt others for no reason, and how normalized it has become. It makes me question—is the internet really a distorted world or is it just an eye-opener to the reality of how people truly are?

Nevertheless, definitely check out the song, in my book it's a solid 10/10. I especially love the ending part where the voice becomes clearer/the song quiets down and we hear the typing, which pulls it all together.
