hey dudes!! today ima review the bride was a boy by chii.
this manga is a true story about the author chii's journey of transitioning from female to male. The book centers around chii's experience as a trans woman with meeting her husband and getting married. also, chii explains different parts of the lgbtq+ community. (eg. the label "trans" and the broad range of identities it includes, different types of transition (social/legal/physical), difference between gender identity and sexuality, different lgbt+ terms, legal and medical information ab gender transition, etc.)
i rly rly enjoyed this manga. it was rly refreshing to read an lgbtq+ manga written by someone who is a member of the community. i loved reading ab chii's experiences growing up, getting married, and coming out. her relationship with her husband was very cute and the art style was too. i could really relate to a lot of her experiences with things like gender dysphoria, not being able to relate with trans representation in the media, the stress of navigating social situations without outing yourself, etc. she talks ab so many parts ab being trans that lack media/educational coverage. this is a great manga that can be enjoyed by people regardless of whether or not they are lgbtq+. 10/10
