2022.06.27 - Murder and Misogyny

These two words, murder and misogyny, both get hurled across the political divide as if they're somehow persuasive and productive, but both miss the point. Calling pro-abortion individuals "murderers" fails to understand the view that a fetus is a part of a woman's body, not a separate life. Calling anti-abortion individuals "misogynists" fails to understand the view that a fetus is not a part of a woman's body, but is instead its own life.

As long as the name-calling and discussion-avoidance remains, we will never, ever find unity among our people.

The underlying issue is not whether or not murder is wrong.

The underlying issue is not what a woman can or can't do with her own body.

The underlying issue is whether or not a fetus qualifies as its own life, or if it is simply another part of a woman's body. That is the disagreement. Not rights, not morality; life - what is life. Until we reach an agreement on that one detail, we will never find agreement on abortion.
