SpaceHey population

Is it just me or is Spacehey kinda dwindling? Yes, it has half a million users, but that's registered users, not people who are actively using the website. For a few days, I noticed  there's usually only like 4-5 pages of online people. I understand SpaceHey isn't supposed to be a major social network and is more of a passion project that accidentally became popular, but seeing it slowly dwindle is a little sad.

I wonder if there's any way to get the word out about the site again? I'm not saying I want it to be as popular as Twitter or whatever cause there's no way that's going to happen, but maybe a way to make the 500,000 people seem more apparent and get more people to be active.

SpaceHey is awesome and how a social network should be. Not a place for corporations to gather personal data and feed misinformation, but a place to actually engage with people, express yourself, and share your creativity with others. No algorithms, no data collection. Like, how is that not attractive?

I only recently joined cause I saw a Youtube comment bring it up. But getting more users to join sites is very hard. It's mostly due to the fact big tech gives them everything they want, a larger userbase with a seemingly endless amount of content to mindlessly go through. I feel like people online these days are lazier, they're only here cause they can be so they have no reason at all to join a site that requires their effort to actually interact with others and make content their self.
One good point someone brought up is that most people want shiny keys jingled in their face. What he means is that most people are used to sites having all kinds of bells and whistles so they think bare sites not bloated with features are pointless.

It is a shame though, what I miss about old internet is everyone is there cause they want to be and they typically care about what communities they're apart of. Everyone wanted to talk to each other and interact. While this site seems kinda dead and I am struggling to really meet others I plan on sticking around. I was just a tiiiny bit too young for MySpace as Facebook began the big thing when I started using the internet actively.

Yeah those are all really good points. What I love about SpaceHey is that it has no algorithms, no curation, and its fully customizable and a REAL *social* network. You browse pages, see what people are into, add people you might find interesting, etc. It is what you make it, basically. But you need more people to really make that happen (also gallery feature like MySpace had, but iirc the dev said its hard to implement but they are working on it).

People really do love their bells and whistles. I wouldn't necessarily call the site *dead* though. For what it is, its still surprisingly active. Welcome to SpaceHey by the way!

Yeah 100% but I mean like, active users in proportion to the amount of registered users. As of right now, it is 12:39PM where I live and I count 182 users online right now. That's a good amount for a social network helmed by two people fresh out of high school, but the site has half a million active users and only 182 people are online. It never seems to go past 200.
