Bush v. Gore (politics)

The 2000s started off with the scandalous election of George W. Bush. Media outlets reported different things, some claimed that Bush won while others claimed that Gore won. The count was too close, and Florida held a recount because the margin of victory was less than .5 percent. Along with this margin, there was various votes that were considered unclear or confusing, for example “hanging chads” or “pregnant chads” or votes casted using the “butterfly ballot”. Notably, Bush's brother was governor of Florida.  The Supreme court eventually took up the case on December 9, 2000 and the court ruled that Florida shall not recount their votes.
