Let's talk US international politics.
Since independence in 1776, the United States has been seen as the paragon of personal liberties and countless other liberties. This view of the states has, in a sense gone to the nation's figurative head. My fellow people from the states from the right wing would say we need to spread our greatness with the rest of the world, to which I say-
What greatness?
The United States of America is nothing more than a state of experimental democracy, and if this were a test of morality, we would have failed barely a day into our nation.
Slavery, the denial of our fellow man's right to life, liberty, and property was without a doubt our first mark off, yet it only continued, from the trail of tears to puppeteering lesser nations against each other. I dare not describe ALL of our shortcomings, as the list would be far too long even for one with a PhD.
My point is, just what does the United States think it is doing in this situation with Ukraine and Russia? I myself am conflicted on what we should do, and for several reasons.
Approximately 109 Ukranian children have died. Putin is essentially a war criminal.
BUT...
Europe is not in our sphere of influence, and we have a tendency to be nosy. Plus, we don't want to escalate the bloodshed.
So what now?
Thoughts?
