Another chapter in my book of "too much time on my hands to over analyze things". People like my Dad just obsess over maintaining
their lawns. It can't get too long or what will the neighbors or township think?
Like why is it such ubiquitous thing to grow a lawn just to cut it every
week? Why not moss, pachysandra or something that you don't have to constantly worry
about? There's even "No Mow Grass"https://www.americanmeadows.com/grass-and-groundcover-seeds/no-mow-lawn-grass-seed?adpos=&scid=scplp4365&sc_intid=4365&msclkid=71d3944f9c0d1568c6bcf4eea5fcc912&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=ppc-15-00%20shopping-ami-grass%20seed&utm_term=4585307090890138&utm_content=Grass%20Seed%20Bing -you still have to mow it apparently but not as often.
Why is having/mowing a lawn the universal standard?

IDK it just looks uniform I guess + it's nice to have open space in your yard personally I prefer a yard that's a mixture of grass and concrete as for the mower itself there are electric mowers I get that it's the whole tessla thing but it's still better than gas in my opinion I do agree that use of chemicals should be avoided as much as possible and have never used chemicals to maintain a yard so dont know what to tell ya I do like the idea of a wood too both types of yards are totally valid in my book but I guess it just depends on the kind of activities you do in your yard

Yeah it's another one of those weird quirks that I like to pick at and question sometimes. It's honestly not that big of a deal though.

Laws with moss would be really cool. I've seen people talk about that online and someone argued that it could collect too much water under the moss, making wood rot. Don't know if that's true tho, lol.

Yeah moss is cool. We had a little patch of it in my front yard as a kid. I know people have had full yards of it.
