Let Trans Girls Play

There are plenty of reasons that trans girls should get to play in sports, and all of the counterarguments are bigoted and misogynistic. 

Many, if not most, trans girls are on estrogen medication and testosterone suppressing treatments. 

The idea that cis girls cannot perform as well as people who were AMAB (assigned male at birth) is quite sexist. Even though there are biological differences, girls with enough training can be just as good as, if not better, than the average male athlete. 

A child who has gone to so much effort to work on their transition to fit their gender is not participating in a sport purely to dominate. Trans girls do not deal with all of the emotion, discrimination, and struggle that they face in their lives by choice. 

And finally, maybe most importantly, denying trans girls the right to play sports is denouncing their identity. Trans women are women. Just like trans men are men. Telling an actual child that their gender is not valid is something that will damage their mental health and likely stick with them forever. I may not be trans, but as a queer woman, the bigoted things that have been said to my face have influenced so many things about me. 

Remember that banning trans girls from sports is targeting children, and leading to a worsening mental health state for many.
