alt people suck

the title is a little misleading honestly. because some people would read this and be like, "but you are alt?"

i don't even wanna call myself alt or emo or scene anymore dude. cause everything is considered against alt culture. literally everything.

like alts would actually slime you if you buy from shein but would praise you for getting your stuff from hot topic (even though it is also fast fashion).

they would also buy from mcdonald's, starbucks, and monster energy even though these companies support isr*el. like dude, you are telling me how buying a belt off shein is the MOST unethical thing because of child labor but you buying from mcdonald's is okay even though thousands of children are being bombed from them? ironic, no?

and then when someone says, "oh i am poor i can't afford anything other than shein" they'd tell them to STEAL. bro WHAT. stealing is also unethical. like you're solving a problem by creating another problem. like it actually baffles me how some people are just okay with stealing. omg.

also the whole thing about religion like what is alternatives problem with religion???? they're always hating on religion all the time. saying some, "religion is sexist and misogynistic" bro WHAT. do your research before saying stuff like that. and the worst take is, "being alt means that you should go against society's norms". i miss when it was just about music. like why is everything getting into being alt. sorry you can't be scene cause you are christian/muslim. buddy.... the OG scene kids that ya'll glaze were actually the most racist and homophobic people ever. not saying that you should be racist or whatever, just saying that we got bigger fish to catch.

also, apparently obeying your parents is also against alt culture??? wowzers dude. cause my mom doesn't let me wear spiked bracelets and dye my hair cyan and i obeyed her means i am a poser now? i am sorry i don't want my mom to yell at me?? "but your mom is wrong", she's still my mom dude. being "rebellious" is not alt in most cases. alts are just trying so HARD to justify their selves and feel more special than regular people.

i used to call myself emo/scene cause i listen to their music and dress like them. but honestly i don't want that label anymore.

Ive come to hate labeling myself and this is partially the reason. People claim to understand alternative subculture values, seeing it as a trend or a mere “aesthetic”.

I think u are right about shein and hot topic, stealing and parent thing. But i dont think being alt was never "just about the music". Cultures were born and evolved with music but music represents the culture bro it is never just music. It also depends on what cultures you are talking about but alt is just a big umberella term. Also believe in whatever you want but biggest religions are either misogynistic or brings misogyn. No one says dont believe in god or if they say it they're straight up dumb peoples religion is no ones business. But its odd when a muslim is alternative cuz islam doesnt want you to catch attention thats literally why hijab exists and islam have a lot of misogyn in it.(i know islam so i chose it as example) At the end nobody really cares be and believe in whatever you want

i am muslim myself actually and saying stuff like "hijab takes away freedom" is not really true. i am not just defending my religion, but it would be nice if you researched any questions regarding islam ^^

Where did i say hijab takes away freedom? Also dw i was born muslim in a mostly muslim country. Also i said even if religion itself doesn't have misogyn countries ruled with the said religion has misogyn.

I think that being alternative (i dont really like the term, i prefer counter-cultural) is all about making a lot of small difficult decisions for yourself, and to advocate that people do the same around you. It's the type of thing where you choose the ethical route even if it isn't nearly as convenient. However, nobody is flawlessly "alternative", picking that best option just isn't available for all people all the time. what I believe matters is picking every ethical route you can, and being self aware of the fact that neither you or anyone else always will. What a lot of alt people are lost on is just that self awareness. We live in a system designed to fuck us over, of course it's difficult for everyone to be of *pure ethicality* with consumption. Look for the real people with that self-awareness and that's where counter-culture thrives. I argue those are the real alternative individuals.
