It pisses me off when someone’s only political take is fuck ICE or Fuck trump. I mean yeah I agree with you but treating them as a complete political opinion completely misses the point of actual discourse.
Reducing complex, systemic issues to a simple, repetitive slogans does more harm than good to the very causes people claim to care about. Slogans are fine for protest signs, but they shouldn't be the height of your political knowledge. This is for many reasons.
1. It Ignores the "Why": Saying "X is bad" doesn't really explain why it’s bad, nor what specific policies are causing harm, or even how those systems actually operate. Without the details, it’s just noise, not a stance.
2. It Offers No Solutions: Complaining about a figure or an agency doesn't build a better alternative. True political engagement requires asking: What comes next? What policy changes actually fix the root problem?
3. Most of y’all are saying it just to be performative: a lot of people repeat these phrases but not to create real change but prove to their TikTok friends that they’re on the "right side." It really just a performance rather than actual activism or critical thinking.
I mean, if you wanted to say that for protest signs then fine, but they shouldn't be the ceiling of your political knowledge. If you care enough to say it then you should care enough to understand the policy. How about we move past the surface-level takes and actually talk about the root of the problem.

its a part of a major problem happening from the internet lowering our attention spans to the point where we cant read long texts/opinion pieces and makes reactionary discourse a valid way to view politics. slogans that are inflammatory such as "fuck __" "all __ are __" and "make __ __ again" are products of such environment, and become loaded dogwhistles that dont invite nuance into conversation. it also misinterprets discrimination and bad events as interpersonal rather than systemic, for example while i would agree with the phrase "all cops are bad" i would say that interpersonally its case by case but systemically this statement holds true, since the role of a cop is inherently bad. this phrase however is interpretted as interpersonal by reactionarys.
political discourse is getting ruined by slogans that simplify true problems for the purpose of inflammation and riling up groups of people. unless you are an accelerationist this is not a productive way to treat politics imo.

YESSS I SO AGREE. I don’t support Trump nor ICE since they are horrible, but I despise it when people’s political takes are surface level knowledge.
We also have to remember not only about American politics.
Anyway, I feel like people should learn more about politics to have more takes.

this is how i feel when i see people praise celebrities or influencers for regurgitating whatever politically correct slogan is currently trending. like they dont donate or use their influence to actually do anything help the cause, they just spew whatever they need to to keep their audience happy
omg I agree that's a good point

YEAHH, I feel like saying that means u don't actually know what you're talking abt, and that u probably lack of independent judgement. Just saying "fuck the system" is pretty shallow 2 me, like yeah, but why? how do u plan to do it? what are u gonna do abt it??? and then ppl don't know how to answer
