My negative opinion about popularity of AI music in CIS (in Russia mostly)

Most of you on this platform are English speakers, but I personally live in Russia, and I just want to say this, well, consider this a warning 'cause CIS Internet is basically a testing ground for cheap content farming. And I'm afraid it might affect you later, too.

I also want to point out that I'm not against AI. AI is indeed a good tool for creativity, but trusting all the work for it is not worth it.

And you say, "So what? I definitely won't listen to that crap!" And you will be absolutely right. But over here, this stuff is mostly being consumed by people in their 30s and 40s. And they actually like it, because there is just endless ocean of this AI slop that can cater any human craving...

And you know what? Such a slag gets just a ton of listens on Yandex Music (the Russian equivalent of Spotify from Yandex corporation) and gets the first place in the charts. Here are few real examples of what's topping the charts in Russia right now:

1. "Сыпь, гармоника!" (Pour, Harmonica!) by СДП: This is AI-generated track by SUNO that uses a famous classic poem by Sergei Yesenin. Around the beginning of this year, It literally hit first place in charts of Yandex Music. And it's not even just the fact that it's AI-generated—it's incredibly low effort. It was clearly made on an older SUNO model. Then the 'author' probably just spammed the 'Extend' and 'Remaster' tools, hoping a newer model would magically fix it into something listenable. But they were too lazy to even clean up the painfully obvious AI audio artifacts. The damn song doesn't even have a proper ending...

2. "Ярмарка судеб" (Fair of Fates) by Alena Tarasenko: Listen to this—this is the scary part. This completely generic, corporate AI-slop song blew up so hard that it was literally broadcasted on a MAJOR Russian national TV channel (Russia 1). The craziest part? Millions of people watching prime-time television were watching perform to an AI-generated backing track. She was on stage singing a song she didn't write, didn't produce, and that doesn't belong to her!

So yeah, this is the dystopia we are currently dealing with. Music is slowly losing its soul, turning into a cheap, mass-produced background noise just to farm streams. I'm sharing this here because SpaceHey is all about keeping the authentic, human web alive.

I have a lot of respect for you guys, so I really hope this catastrophic trend doesn't reach your scene. But I'm afraid it might just be a matter of time.

The most important thing is STAY HUMAN.
