About 2 days ago people here had to vote for who to put up as prime minister. Basically president but the president we do have is more used as a symbol position rather than actually deciding what happens.
The voting was so black and white these year. it's either u liked the blue party or the red party. And both of them were fighting eachother like children, who gives the best offer to the public wins.
Idk abt u, but personally i dont want petty people to be calling the shots. I ended up voting for a nicher party. They didn't have terrible ideas, they seemed more realistic than the main 2 atleast.
Theres was another niche party that wanted to pay women to get boob jobs...no thanks
And there was another one that wanted to ban all legal and illegal imigrants and refugees aswell as bring back conversion therapy...right after the EU banned it btw. Also my bf is an imigrant so id like him to be here with me instead of the shithole of russia.
The main 2 had similar offers too. they wanted to add more stipend, one of them wanted to add a 1000 euro stipend to people studing healthcare due to the lack of employees we have in the public one. They wanted to make moving into places easier I think by a pension (honestly they shoud've made people decrease the cost of overpriced homes instead). Plus increased pay.
They also wanted to add a metro system. The busses nowadays makes u take forever to go to one place to another. and to go to the north from the south takes like 1.5 hours on a good day. Which is terrible concidering we're lit such a small country. so maybe thats a good idea but idk how ur gonna find the space for that.
idk how they expect to get this money out of their asses but ok. .
Dude ts was so funny too. I literally got a letter addressing ME. Saying that the main blue guy believes in me and the country and that im "the future". i found it so corny but okk.
Anyways the red party one. Mainly cause they have some diehard propagated fans all over the country. Its their 4th time winning. They barely one tho, only by a few thousand. I woudn't be surprised cause they almost had THE SAME OFFERS. it was all a matter of connections at that point.
Yk I wanted to go swim with my boyfriend yesterday. I almost coudnt tho cause people were drunk, shouting in the streets, causing traffic, jumping on top of their driving cars, shooting illegal fireworks and wrecking the whole country with flags, honking and heavy music.
It took me an hour and a half just to get CLOSE to the place. (I had to tell my bf to try going to a different place, we landed on manuel island where not alot of people go since its the only place with actual maltese greenery.) not to mention both my parents were pissed and worried.
Anyways, moral of the story is that ts people think voting for parties is as insignificant as voitng for a football team. No one gives a shit abt what they're saying as long as thier favourite colour wins. I need to go study about democracy for my test on Wednesday (the irony).

Indirect democracy is an oligarchy with extra steps to build legitimacy. It was designed for that. It works as intended.
Yup. I'd rather have old school monarchy. At least you know who to be mad at that way

I prefer pure anarchism, I prefer the lifestyle of a spider (a jumper and not social one) or of an octopus.

democracy is an ultra-long-distance race and it's never certain, so don't lose hope and enjoy life on your surely beautiful island / we have cold here like in a doghouse most of the year / ...
I wana say it's a nice place, but most ppl that live here only see the overpopulation and the blocks of apartments that are being build everywhere, which completely contrast the traditional limestone buildings. we barely have any greenery and they already ruined a well known park by adding gravel everywhere (。ᵕ ◞ _◟)
