why I h8 twinkification

seeing every male character who is popularly shipped with another man get reduced into being a twink just so that the ship can fit into heteronormative dynamics makes me so infuriated like genuinely it's some of the most annoying shit I've ever seen. very few ships between two masculine presenting, strong men are ever allowed to stay that way. and don't even get me STARTED on when one (or both) of them are actually canonically gay, because then everyone has the "ok so ur homophobic" excuse when they get called out on their bullshit. seeing beautifully written characters be turned into the mildest and most tame relationships just so it's more appealing to the masses makes my blood boil and my hair fall out.

liiiiike, 4 example, castiel from supernatural. honestly, this is partly the fault of the show's writers, but still the fans as well. don't get me wrong, I love destiel, but seeing people act like cas is a helpless baby twink kills me. not only is he stronger than dean, he's an angel ?? and one of the most powerful kinds ??? shippers decided to muddle cas down into a stupid and reliant character because it was easier than writing actual stories in their fanfics. they thought about that stupid sexy baby trope and relied on it as an out when trying to force a complex and self reliant character to be a boy obsessed puppy dog. and the worst part is that literally nobody had to do that. he was ALREADY a puppy dog. castiel has always been dedicated to dean, people just can't see that because nobody wants to look at two completely "normal" men and think that there's even the slightest chance that they could be gay and nobody would know.

it's even more annoying when the character being reduced into the twink bubble is only used for it because he's skinny. most of the time, it'll be an ill or disabled man, like viktor in arcane. it was literally just a few months ago that arcane fans were all calling viktor a twink and talking about jayce being his golden retriever top, I mean seriously what r u even doing atp. worse is when it's a highschooler, like hinata in haikyuu. wasn't there a time when everyone was writing him going to parties in dresses and shit ? pls be serious. I don't even get the appeal in it, because if you want a hetero ship where the girl has male parts, that's already a real thing. they can't possibly just want to see a twink and a masc because that's NOT WHAT THEY'RE DOING. idk like it seriously pisses me off. whateverrrrrrrrr I need to gts.
