#Written Thoughts: With No Hands.

I was looking out at the window just to have a glance at nature, and I saw two birds on the grass eating. There was nothing unusual about them; they kept doing their thing and I kept looking. But then I saw something that many people would often overlook- they had no hands.

Now, think about it- when they eat, they use their beaks to grab food from the grass, they have no hands to hold their food and steady themselves, just feet. They use their feet to hook up the ground for balance, they jump around at intervals so as not to fall. Even after grabbing the food with their beaks, they have to try not to let the food out or else, the whole cycle begins all over again.

And you know what amazes me? They do this every day, when eating, when building their nests, when grooming their bodies- most of their everyday activities are done WITH. NO. HANDS. Just with their beaks, feet and a little determination. Now most people may say; ‘it’s not a problem for them’, ‘they’re adapted to that kind of living’, ‘they see nothing wrong with that’, well it’s true, partly, but what about us?

We complain about our problems, and only a few actually try to solve it, even after solving it, if anything happens, we let it be. Too often, we don’t adapt, we ignore. We wait for things to become easy before actually solving them. I read a blog last month and one quote stuck with me, even though this blog post and that one doesn’t actually talk about the same thing;

‘I’m reminded of the old saying, hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, weak men create hard times. It seems clear to me we’re in the latter half of that sequence, and we’re due for some strong men.’

That statement actually resonates with aspects of our present life. But are we going to keep believing that strength is about having more, or learning to do more regardless of the situation we find ourselves in?

The birds don't wait for hands before they build nests. They build anyway.
